Description: Home for Bob Ciprietti is Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Growing up there and falling in love with the food, tradition, and people of NY inspired him to bring a little bit of home to Delaware. Touch of Italy first opened in the fall of 2010 in Lewes, Delaware and now has locations in Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City, MD. Each ristorante has a salumeria(deli) and a pasticceria (bakery) in house. The dining room doesn't open till 11 AM, but you can still shop at the deli and bakery beginning at 10:30 AM. We are known for our most popular Chicken Parm, our mozzarella, our crispy bread, our internationally recognized brick oven pizza, our pasta, and our eclairs. It's important to us that when you dine with us you enjoy a true authentic Italian experience with good food, friends, family, and great conversation. Stop by for a glass of wine and some good pasta or some meatballs and bread. Regardless of your choice, you won't be disappointed.

We had a wonderful night celebrating a friend's birthday. The food was delicious as always. The pizza, salads, pastas and chicken parmagina were all amazing. The service was outstanding. They were very attentive and the food was served in a timely manner. I can't wait to go back again. The best Italian food I have eaten.

I love Touch of Italy food -- it is the best Italian food here at the beach. So I was very excited when they opened this new larger restaurant closer to where I live in Dewey. Since it opened I have gone there 3 times, and each time I hope they will have gotten themselves set up and ready to serve people. One time we waited almost 2 hours -- although we were told the wait would be 45 minutes. They had empty tables but no one to clear and clean them. So all those waiting for tables had to keep waiting. That went on for almost 30 minutes before we complained. The girl who is the hostess is worthless as she either won't clear and clean a table or has not been trained how to do anything. As you watch them, you realize they do not have TRAYS to serve food or clear tables. The kitchen is way down at the end and they take each item by hand to deliver it or clear it. The most inefficient principle in serving -- you would think using trays to bus food or clear is basic restaurant practice. They also have a poor use of space with a table set up in the middle for oil and pepper mills, etc. Why it is like that is a mystery as it does not add ambience or seem useful -- it takes up floor space where another party could be seated and generate income. When you do get the food, it is very flavorful and wonderful -- the pizza is fantastic, the bread is excellent, the ensalada mista with fresh strawberries and candied walnuts is superb, and they have a great tomato sauce. But putting up with the noise, the wait, the disorganization is something to consider -- do not go if you are in a hurry! And we will all hope that after the summer season, the help gets trained (the help behind the counter has had no training and was packing hot items with cold items and did not know the menu at all!).

This is a new and larger branch of the original small Italian Deli and Restaurant on 2nd Street in Lewes, DE that is always packed with patrons. This one is a lot more spacious and a lot of thought has gone into the deli theme, with enormous cheeses and links hanging from ceiling beams, etc. Surfaces are hard, so noise bounces everywhere, making conversation difficult. Service was efficient, but a little too much kibitzing for my taste. There is a wood burning oven for the pizzas, but it still seems to be in the shake down phase as one of our pizzas arrived scorched and blackened on the bottom. The campagnola pizza was a delicious mélange of sausage, onion, mushroom, fresh mozzarella and roasted red pepper on an artisanal thin crust. Onions on pizza can be a disaster if they don’t get cooked enough, but these must have been sautéed in advance because they were absolutely perfect and translucent. I had the braciola in an inventive presentation served over buttery cornmeal polenta instead of the traditional pasta. The filling included pinoli nuts and raisins, which is a switch up from the traditional parmesan and garlic. The eggplant rollatini appetizer sounds wonderful, but that will have to await our next visit.
