Dinner late on a Monday evening. So, only two other parties in the impressive Green Room. The service was classic and very attentive with an elegantly set spacious table and very grand chairs. We had reservations, and when presented with the menu, my name was printed, not written, on the page. As it was late, we only had main courses and wine. One of us had roasted duck. It was nicely presented and sumptuously delicious; duck done correctly has the flavor to which filet Mignon aspires, One of us had filet Mignon and lobster tail, both very good. The wine was also very good. After dinner we took a look at the extensive, impressive, and beautifully decorated and illuminated public rooms of the hotel. The equal of any hotel in New York, London, Paris. Presumably the Duponts created this grand hotel to both enjoy themselves and to show the world that Wilmington had world class amenities.
