“Lovely beach, beautiful and quiet place”
Reviewed 9 March 2012

Like most keys, this state park on Big Pine Key had beaches both on Atlantic side and Gulf of Mexico. Beaches are clean, shallow with beautiful shades of green emerald light blue and deep blue.

We have been to this place for the third time - fell in love with it the first time and this time we found this park won some 'best in america' award!

Sandspur beach is my favorite. The view from the dunes in front of the gift shop is awesome with the old bahia honda bridge and new one coming together far in the distance. We got a beautiful sunset from there this time around.

The Old Bahia Honda bridge also offers some beautiful panoramas.

I know that there is very reasonably priced kayak rental and snorkeling charters, we have not done these activities.

“Best Beach in Florida Keys”
Reviewed 8 March 2012

The Florida Keys really don't have many good beaches. This is probably the best one. It actually has a sandy bottom. Most other Keys beaches have lots of turtle grass which is less desirable. One of it's beaches has an area that's protected from the wind. Also there are lots of facilities here. HOWEVER, beware of the NO-SEE-UM'S. We sat several hours watching the sunset and got lots of bites.

“Nice for an Afternoon”
Reviewed 8 March 2012

Cost at the gate for 2 adults was 9.50. Facilities are clean. North east beach was long but pretty full of seaweed but the south one was calmer. Worth the visit but be prepared to walk a bit to find a place to sit on the north beach!

“Fantastic location. Cheap prices.”
Reviewed 7 March 2012

You pay upon entering the first time and can come and go as you please all day. There are kayaks and snorkeling adventures available on site. The beaches are clean and open. Tour path to the old bridge with a great lookout point.

“Gorgeous beaches”
Reviewed 6 March 2012

Beautiful beaches and a few short trails for walking. The water was pretty shallow so you had to wade way out in order to actually swim. But the beach stretches on for a long time and the sunset was beautiful. I was there mid-week in February and parking was an issue. $4.50 to enter with a car and one person.
