We had the one bedroom unit 1, so can't comment on the others (all described on the website). Overall, staying here was a very positive experience and met our needs. The owner happened to be onsite and was very pleasant and helpful. Best feature: just a few blocks from the downtown shops and minutes from the water. Biggest negative: uncomfortable seating - needs a big upgrade ! All the 5-star reviews implied to us that it would be a luxury property, and while everything was very clean and the unit well appointed, it was more on the utilitarian side; as a hotel it would be graded more 3-star than 5-star. The website mentioned "complimentary laundry", which is true, there is a laundry on site, but we assumed there would be some maid service to deal with towels/bedding, but there wasn't.

The unit we stayed in was nicely appointed and had great amenities including a kitchen, living room, small pool, laundry machines, front porch, and room for a family with two bedrooms. We liked it so much we extended for a day. It was right in the center of things with easy walking to shops and restaurants and we rented a golf cart to get to other areas and had fun checking out Gasparilla Island. All the merchants and folks we ran into were very helpful and welcoming too. We will look forward to heading back.

We stayed in unit #1, it's a one bedroom efficiency, beautifully decorated with everything you could want. Has it's own little private porch, the pool area is also as nice as it comes.
Totally private and secluded with lush tropical foliage.
We rented a golf cart from Boca buggy, it's the absolute best way to explore the island,
Our best times were the late night rides. Highly recommend this place.
It's a beautiful place on a beautiful island.

Room Tip: Units 1 & 2 are both one bedroom efficiencies, we decided on unit # 1 because of the porch. Uni...

Our first time at Gasparilla Island and we loved it! The Anchor Inn is the place to stay. The fact that it had perfect reviews caught our attention and all we have to say is that it beat our expectations. We stayed in unit #4 and it is as if you are walking in to a dollhouse. Very clean, well equipped and the owner is just a delight. The yard/ common area where the pool is located is tranquil and extremely relaxing. A must try! Our favorite lunch place was The Loose Caboose, our kids looked forward to going there. The Plasencia Family

Our family has been going to the Anchor Inn for the past few years, We stay in Unit 3 or 4 because we have two kids. The units are always spotless and the kitchen stocked with everthing you need to prepare a meal. the Inn is downtown located by all the cute shops and restaurants. You can walk to everything or if you like rent a golf cart and cruise around like the rest of the Islanders. Our favorite places to eat our The Pink elephant(Diane is a fabulous bartender) 3rd Street Grill for breakfast and for the best crab cakes and Lobster roll go to Newlins which is right across the street from the Inn. My favorite place in Florida and very relaxing!

Room Tip: If you have more than four in your party you have to either book two rooms or stay in Unit 4 as they...

My Mom & I stayed at the Anchor Inn for five days in Unit #1. Very charming, cozy, quaint, quiet and relaxing and just what we wanted and needed!!! Our unit was very nice and looked like it was awaiting our arrival - perfectly decorated with everything you need; they did not miss anything. The pool was absolutely perfect; plants and flowers surround the pool and your chair as if we were on our own private island. We could not have asked for anything else.
Temptations is a must for dinner!

My family and I decided to take a trip on short notice and feel fortunate that we were able to find a room at the Anchor Inn. We researched a bunch of places in the area and happily found Anchor Inn cozy, convenient, tastefully decorated, and comparatively reasonable. Our unit had a comfortable bed and well-equipped kitchen, while the little oasis of a back yard has a small pool and everything you need--chairs, toys, and towels for a day at the beach. We enjoyed delicious meals at 3rd Street Cafe and Temptations and took care of Christmas shopping at some of the beautiful shops nearby.

That said, here are a few things to keep in mind: The closest beach (3 blocks away) is only a tiny strip--there are much better beaches for swimming, shelling, and lounging a little farther away. If you have young children, trouble walking, or lots of stuff, you'll probably want to drive there. Many people traverse the island by golf cart. This was lots of fun, but can be expensive, so be sure to inquire about deals and reservations in advance.

All in all, great place for a restorative getaway.
