Attraction details
Owner description: Sugar Sand Park features the Community Center, which houses the Children's Science Explorium and the Willow Theatre; and the Field House, which features an indoor gymnasium. Developed by the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District and operated by the City of Boca Raton, this 132-acre park continues its commitment to enhance the role of recreation and culture for residents and visitors alike. Sugar Sand Park is open 365 days a year - the Community Center and Children's Science Explorium are closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day. Built to American Society for Testing & Materials standards, the Science Playground is strong and safe, with a soft, impact-attenuating ground surface. This surface is also the key to the wayfinding feature, allowing parents and children to pinpoint their exact location within the playground through identifying markings. The inclusive playground features new swings, slides, and an expanded climbing structure that allows for greater access to people of all ages and abilities, and greater visibility for parents and children alike. The updated interactive water feature showcases a variety of sea creatures, and a new train station-themed toddler play area has been added.

“What a great place for kids!”
Reviewed 17 March 2013

The park has the most extensive and large playground that we have everything seen! Something for everyone, plus a carousel and two rooms of science center experiments and hands-on activities for kids to do. Great place for a rainy or sunny day! My kids loved it so much, they asked to go back another day.

“Best of all it's Free!”
Reviewed 14 March 2013

When my son was younger, we would travel 20 minutes South to go this Park. It was well worht the Gas! It is this wooden playground that is built so the adults can play with their kids and have a fun filled adventurous day! You never know what you will find, a water play area, A DIG for bones, swing area, equipped for all persons, ramps for wheel chairs, poles to slide down, cool astronaut area, and so much more! It is set inside a really pretty park with trees, picnic bench areas, pavillions, grills, baseball fields, nature trails, hockey, skating, bikes, etc. BEST PART, Next to playground is a FREE Science Museum, smaller version of a regular one, but really cool. So if you had a hot day of play,go inside to cool off and learn and have fun too! Clean bathrooms inside as well. There is a Merry Go Round that you have to pay for, and a hot dog cart with snacks and snowcones, etc. Pay for as well. Highly recommend if you have a family! Great place!

“Our kids love this place - it's a madhouse”
Reviewed 12 March 2013

Our kids name this place about any time we ask them where they want to go on a weekend. The big park and fort is perfect for chasing them around for as long as your lungs and heart can keep up. It's really a fun place.
