“Much Better than Adequate”
Reviewed 2 May 2008

I stayed here a few nights in March and again in April. It is very convenient to the coast from Fort Lauderdale to West Palm, 10 minutes from highway 95. It is in a safe part of town and the worst crime I saw was a deadbeat guest staying in his room until 5 pm without paying for the extra day (the only time I saw the staff lose their temper). The hotel was generally neat but a little dated. I didnt swim but the pool looked inhabitable. The staff was helpful and the computer adjacent to the office worked well. Breakfast was basic but free so no complaints. For the price I was glad they served it at all. Though we faced the road we heard no noise. I have a relative in Boca so I will gladly return as long as their rates are so reasonable. Do check with them before reserving as I hear they have rennovation coming up soon.

I travel often for work and found the Best Western in Boca Raton a very nice place. It felt like home from the time of booking my reservation with Tracy to the time check-out by Laura. I recomend this hotel if you like a quite, clean place to stay while on business or vacation.

I am an international tourist and spent two weeks in Boca Raton with my husband.

When I booked my stay, the hotel offered a transfer service to some places. First, we went to the beach, and waited two hours beyond marked time to be picked up by the van. Second, when we planned to go to a local shopping they just told us that the van service was canceled. The front desks are completely unfriendly.
In addition, there was a disgusting mold smell in the bedrooms.

Positive points: low rates$ and spacious bedrooms.

  • Liked — Hotel low rates.
  • Disliked — Front desk service.

we stayed here for 2 nights. I didn't think it was bad. It was your typical hotel. it had a nice pool and hot tub. Free breakfast was a typical cont breakfast with a free newspaper.
overall it was fine for what we paid $120 a night. I would recommend it.

Booked via Hotwire which gave this place 2.5 stars. Beware, it's a dilapidated 1 star at best now. Highly recommend going elsewhere until you can confirm via pictures of the rooms that this place has had the rooms completely redone. They look like not much has been done to them in the past 20 years. This is an old style motel with rooms that have doors opening directly onto a balcony that everyone walks down. You have zero privacy in your room if you want to look out a window.

Our family of 4 went to visit family for the weekend and were booked at the Best Western University Inn from Jan 19 to Jan 21, 2007 through Hotwire for $119 a night. We were concerned about the prior reviews but had already been assigned the hotel so we hoped for the best. Unfortunately, the hotel had VERY basic and somewhat dilapidated rooms which were not very clean. By the next morning we realized that our bed had a small insect on the pillow which had already bitten us. We immediately spoke to the front desk staff and they were courteous but told us that we they would have a manager call us during the week as we had pre-paid via Hotwire so they couldn't issue the refund. We, of course, checked out early and were fortunate enough to stay with the family we were visiting. We did not hear back from the hotel. Over the next 2 weeks we also developed a scabies (another type of parasite) infestation which has required a lot of clothing and bedding washing and permethrin cream applications for the family. I called Hotwire and they were very helpful and kind and felt we deserved a full refund but first must call the hotel to investigate. I would, obviously, strongly recommend avoiding this hotel until they have a major refurbishment and upgrade their linen and room hygiene.

  • Liked — Not much except that it is in Florida
  • Disliked — dirty beds, lice, scabies,itching

I stayed here while waiting on a flight back to Detroit. They have free airport transportation to Ft. Lauderdale International, which pretty much paid for the room. Airport transport from Boca Raton to FLL is about $80. It's not luxury, just a standard motel. The pool was okay, but hot tub was dirty. Hurricane Dennis came through that night, which made for an interesting evening. I didn't know a Hurricane out in the Gulf could make that much wind and rain on the other coast! Wow. Lots of people at the hotel were escaping the hurricane. A piece of the ceiling fell down and a door to an outside corridor banged against the wall at 3 a.m., but that's of no fault to the hotel. The rooms were clean and mine was renovated, so I had no issues there.
