We are owners at another HVC, but this one is much closer to our home so we like to come here quite often. This however, was the first time with our gandchildren. The lazy river is a hit. We went around countless numbers of times, the activities for the kids were for the most part fun. But $2.00 for a sno cone? I know, I know it's a Hyatt. For the lazy river scavenger hunt, it wasn't made clear that you ONLY win a prize if you find the coin with a W on it. Our grandsons faces just sank when they found out they got nothing after finding the gold coin. The gold coin could be enough of a prize. Come on, got some cheap plastic beads, a free ice pop, let them keep the coin, something. They're kids. I got them sno cones and told them they won that.
The unit itself while still quite lovely is starting to show it's age. They are impeccably clean but be sure to check the stack of magazines for toe nail clippings. Furniture is chipped and worn, appliances are obviously older and dented, plates are scuffed with silverware marks, patio chairs are torn, a screen was torn, numerous spider webs in the corners of the patio and the railing on the outside of the screen was very moldy.
We ate at the Verandah bar and grill a couple of times. And we waited and we waited and we waited....... The first day over and HOUR and a HALF for two sandwiches, a wrap and some chicken tenders. We thought we'd try again the next day, not quite as bad but still over an hour. Do yourself a favor, if they offer the buffet, do that.
We tried to use the fire pit for s'mores one night, but were chased inside by the no see ums.
The staff was wonderful and there for our every need.

Beautiful surroundings! Hyatt has provided a beautiful relaxed setting for families or couples to enjoy. Wonderful lazy river pool among their 5 pool choices! Waterfalls everywhere. Spent many hours floating along. Actually rather quiet.

We have been staying here for years but never thought to review it before (perhaps I shouldn't review it because we enjoy the privacy so much and wish to save it for ourselves). Staff is superlative and the lazy river is sooo relaxing and enjoyable. Grounds and pools are also beautiful - almost feels like you're in the Caribbean w/out being there. Watching the animal life, especially the variety of birds, is also enjoyable. With a large mall right across the street, who could ask for more?!?

Room Tip: Corner suites have both a front and back balcony

Stayed in room 5346 from 5/17 to 5/21/14 with my wife and two children, ages 2 and 4, in a 2 bedroom unit. I was a little caught off guard by how nice the room was. It had the feeling like a high end condo: stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and high end bathrooms. It was very large and had a properly appointed kitchen, washer + dryer, dishwasher, and huge screened in porch.

The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. There were multiple pools: an adult pool, 2 "regular" pools with zero-entry (like a beach), and a children's pool with a little splash pad. They also have a rather large lazy river. What was neat with the lazy river was a shallow area where the current really picked up, much like a rapids. We found the service throughout the resort to be impeccable and very detailed.

Note to management: there are two areas that should be improved. We found the system they have for breakfast leaves something to be desired. As it stands, you place your order with a cashier in the gift shop, pay immediately, and then the food is brought to you, either outdoors or to the lobby. We found this to be odd and not ideal. Could only imagine if the place was busy or you had a large party. You had the option of eating breakfast at their sister hotel, the Coconut Point, but that was about 1 mile away or so (they have shuttle). You’d think a resort of this size and quality would have a restaurant for breakfast.

Secondly, we were rubbed the wrong way by the automatic 15% gratuity added on to many bills. This policy doesn’t just apply to large parties but to everyone. For a resort of this quality, I found this to be tacky. On some levels it was counterproductive; because of my feelings on the automatic 15% it made me want to tip less than I normally would.

We enjoyed our stay at the Plantation -- the room was a great size for our family and we loved the grounds and lazy river and facilities! Staff at front desk was very welcoming. The view of the alligator in the pond along the golf course was pretty cool!
