Loxahatchee is a National Wildlife Refuge. If you want to escape and just be close to nature this is the place. The visitors center and gift shop are a must. Then take the Cypress Swamp Boardwalk, which is 1/4 mile walk which returns you to the visitors center. Get back in your car and head across the road to the Marsh Trail, which is 1/8 mile walk around the dikes. Then returning to your car ride out to the Boat ramp & fishing pier. Be sure to bring your camera and binoculars because you will see lots of wildlife. Fee is $5. per car, but if you have the Golden Pass for National Parks, it is free!
