“Great little hideaway”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2009

A small well kept quiet resort. Loved the separate bedroom and fully equipped kitchen. It was neatly tucked between larger complexes. Gulf was right across the beach and at other side of resort was a small heated pool; overlooking Sarasota Bay. Enjoyed high speed internet. Would have liked larger TV and an additional TV in the bedroom. Great value for the money. I would think the resort would be best suited for 50+. We did not see or hear any children which was fine with us. Would definitely return.

Tradewinds Resort is the greatest on Anna Maria Island, and we tell everyone we know about it and that it is the place to stay. Love the cozy cottage atmosphere; the wonderful, cheerful, helpful staff, and the close proximity to everywhere we like to go!

  • Liked — The cozy roomy cottages and being able to park directly in front of our cottage
  • Disliked — Would like to see flat screen TVs added and better cell phone service

As a brief statement, far too expensive for that what you receive. The bungalow which we had was totaly dated, everything what you touched or used was old and used. The price we paid was far too much for that place. I can't recommand this place. On other places on our trip we have had hotels of the same category for half ot the price but equipment was good and functional.

In response to Claudine100, please accept our apologies if your stay with us
was not up to your expectations. Tradewinds Resort has a reputation for
being a quaint resort with very neatly kept Key West style cottages. Every
day we receive positive comments from our guests on the décor and
cleanliness. We are very sorry that your stay does not reflect that
reputation. We hope your overall stay in Florida was good and hope you will
visit our beautiful island again.

Absolutely wonderful!!! My husband and I have been here several times, alone and with our small child...and have created sooo many wonderful memories at this cozy little resort!

Not the biggest rooms, but with the beautiful pool and beach right there and many fun attractions on Anna Maria Island...who needs to be in your room? Beds are comfortable and rooms are decorated in a tropical, but not tacky theme...which just sets the mood for a lovely vacation! Everything we needed to cook meals was there, which was nice!

The pool is my favorite!!! You can see the bay (boats, fish, birds) all while laying out poolside! The pool is never overly crowded and there are several shaded areas for those who don't want to be in the sun. We have always met the greatest people and families there! My husband also likes to fish on the dock, while I love to take family pictures there!

The beach is a short walk away...and has beach chairs, which is a plus for me! The views are just stunning. We always spot a dolphin or two..and on a couple occasions have seen manatees in the wild. Breathtaking!

Definitely a wonderful place to vacation!!! Debbie at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful!!!

We're a family of 4, and stayed in property 23, the 2 bedroom bay view apartment, for 10 nights.

It seemed to us that the resort itself is primarliy used by Americans taking long weekend breaks, or so it seemed. It was very quiet from Monday lunchtime until Friday evening. We had the pool pretty much to ourselves on these days. At the weekends there were never more than 3 or 4 other couples using it. We never used house keeping, but the property itself was clean and well appointed, just lacking a few pieces of cutlery.

It was nice walking out onto the jetty in the evenings and watching fish jumping out of the water. The beach was just across the road, which whilst busy, was easy to cross as most drivers stopped to let you go. The beach itself was fine, but a little busier than we were expecting as last year we were much further to the north of the island. This wasn't a problem though.

The resort was quiet and peaceful and a great place to relax and unwind after 11 days in Orlando. If we return to Anna Maria Island we'd certainly consider coming back here.

  • Liked — Peace and quiet and great views.
  • Disliked — Nothing.

I am so surprised to see the latest negative reviews. What a shame. Our experience of the Tradewinds was just wonderful! Debbie checked us in and was very nice. We stayed in Bungalow 7. As we walked in I was overtaken by how nice it was. You never know what to expect sometimes. I looked around, looking for something, anything to find fault with. Nothing. It was just as the pictures showed on their website. Although the grounds do look more spread out on their website. I thought the property seemed smaller in person, but I thought that about the whole island. It gave that homey, comfortable feeling. Very tropical. We knew we were someplace special. The location is great. Just a short stroll across the road to the absolutely, beautiful beach! Chairs are provided. Just ask for umbrella at office. We took our own beach towels, but they provide those too. In the evening everyone heads over to the beach for the Finale, the sunset. The area is so quiet and peaceful. There really is no late night action, which was fine with us. Some nights we'd head back to pool for a night swim, other nights we cooked on their outdoor grill. The pool area is nice and clean. It looks out over the bay and you can see the drawbridge. We chose to forgo the maid service. We washed our towels a couple of times in their w/d. Emptied our own trash a couple of times and took to dumpster on property. No big deal, saved alot of money that way. We met some other couples while staying there and they were enjoying themselves too. One couple we spoke to come every year, at the same time. How romantic! I think if you go with an open mind, ready to have a peaceful relaxing vacation then that is what you will have. We sure did! We're already planning our next trip, with the kids this time.

A large group of us have been staying at this property for years. Great property! Clean! Confortable! Never had any problems. However, during our last stay in July 2008, had a jogging stroller and 10 cases of beverages stolen right off of our patios. Very bold! Incident was reported to Bradenton Beach Police Dept.

Also, A strange man wandered into the pool area the day before the thefts. The man was obviosly under the influence and very dirty. We called the front desk to ensure someone was aware of the issue. According to the police lieutenant who took the police report for the theft of the stroller, the man was arrested later that day.

In short, the hotel is great but be carefull. Security is poor. You must safeguard your belongings. Don't leave anything of value on your patio. What a shame!

I just read a recent June posting related to another theft incident. Maybe an inside job???
