Jetty Park Campground
Reviewed 5 January 2007

This was our 2nd trip to the Jetty campground. We were told we could bring our pet, as long as we had his shot records with his weight listed on it. When we arrived there were "No pets allowed" signs on everything. We were charged $2.00 extra per night for our 7lb. dog, who by the way, could not leave the campsite. On the "rule sheet" it said the pets have to stay on the campsite at all times. We could not even have a camp fire. The gravel road around our camping area had huge pot holes. The laundry facilities are expensive and the dryers melted two of my kids fleece garments, while set on low. The bath houses had no hot water on our last 2 days(jan 2&3,07) We paid $36.00 per night for this campsite which had water and electric. No sewer, not even CABLE!! I like the area the views are great. I love watching the ships go by. The campground needs to add a play area of their own for children. The other play ground is part of the public park. It was packed on new years day. There were large groups of people and my kids couldn't play on anything. The pier and the public beach are very nice. We love the people and the area, but, the Jetty needs an upgrade.

I have been camping here since I was very young. It is right on the Jetty and allows for good fishing. It is fun to see the ships come into port through the channel. The newer fishing pier is very nice and well lit at night. The beach tends to stay less crowded than farther into Cocoa. The amenities are not fancy, but the price is low and reasonable for what the campground has. We have always stayed in our camper, so we have had everything we needed. More recently, we have begun tent camping here. During the summer, you must stay in the shade. I have been coming here for years and will continue to visit in the future.

We stayed at Jetty Park campground 3 nights at the end of February, beginning of March 2006. The park is at a excellent location and is next to the Port Canaveral inlet to the Atlantic Ocean and has a really nice fishing pier. We called and made reservations and also was told there was a bait shop available. A restaurant was going to open soon, they told us probably the day after we left. My comment card, which I turned in on the way out and the office staff didn't say thank you, just took it has the following items:

1. The cost is to high for this campground. There are no paved or gravel pads.
2. The water in the mens bathroom near out site had very little pressure and was barely hot. My wife said the womens bathroom had hot water.
3. The campground was full of weeds and not well mowed or taken care of.
4. On their campground map they show the sites. However, they squeezed in and made new temporary sites in between some. I thought we were next to a open area and surprise, they had temporary cardboard signs with site number 110A. I wonder if the health department and zoning are aware they are adding sites.
5. There was no telephone at the campground. We do not carry a cell phone and this was inconvenient that we had to leave the park to use the phone. The phone next to the office said "out of order" all three days.
6. The campground site we had was littered with cigarette butts and the charcoal pit was not cleaned prior to our checkin.
7. Our water connection was on the wrong side for a backin - and we had to share it with the neighbors, who luckily had a y adapter because we were not offered one by the park management.

We may go back but not for a while. I'll wait till I talk to someone else who goes and says it is better than I experienced.
