“Breathtaking Views - Appetite Killing Food & Beverage!”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

This hotel is situated away from everything, which for a relaxing ambiance is spectacular, but when it comes to being "Trapped" as far as eating and drinking is concerned, it was a "Curse"! Unlike the breathtaking grounds, the Restaurant and Bar were a step below "McDonalds", which we would have killed for after eating not once, but twice, at the Restaurant downstairs.

The food was not only seriously lacking in creativity, but even when the food was horribly undercooked, and badly prepared, they still charged us for it! Basically saying "Too bad, so Sad"! We told them it was horrible (Three Times) and they just said said "Sorry" and put it on the bill anyway (Twice!)???

IN THE RESTAURANT & BAR ONLY .. Customer Service was atrocious ... IN THE HOTEL ITSELF, it was outstanding!

If you have the ability to pack a lunch and dinner for yourself, in a cooler, then check this place out...it's lovely. If you will need to eat there, well then, just don't go!

Room Tip: The higher up, the better, but pack a lunch (And Dinner), because you DO NOT want to eat there!

Dear TheRECoach,

I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback about your recent stay. While I am thankful you enjoyed your stay at our resort, I am disappointed that you had unsatisfactory interactions at our dining establishment. We assure you that each guest’s satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us and apologize for the dissatisfaction you experienced regarding your food selection and service. We will be rolling out a new menu shortly which has some more daring items which may satisfy the lacking in creativity you experienced. We do appreciate your feedback and hope to have another opportunity to serve you in the future.

My wife and I really loved our stay at the Westin in Cape Coral. The staff was great and the room was perfect. They really are attentive and we were given a great upgrade by the manager. The resort is pet-friendly as well. They have a beautiful marina with boat rentals and complimentary bikes to ride. From the moment you arrive and are warmly greated by the bell staff, to the time of departure we were treated as valued guests.

Had a great time here last February. Great service great locale. I personally like that it is out of the way and not near a beach. Others may not. There is a nice preserve a short walk away and makes for a nice walk and viewing of local wildlife.

Room Tip: Anything facing the water is nice

We stayed at this property this past August and had an excellent time. We are SPG Gold members and we've been to a lot of Westin Resorts, and this one held its own. The first thing that impresses is the setting of the hotel: water and river all around. Staff service was wonderful too. When we checked in, we were helped right away with our luggage. We also requested an upgraded room to a 2BR adjacent room (we had 7 people in our party), and they gladly obliged. The room itself is very new, reminiscent of a newly built condo. Granite counters, tile floors, and new fixtures. The balcony has a screen to keep the bugs away.

We ate using our kitchen during our stay and there is a market 2 miles from the hotel. There's also good take out Chinese food.

Our two children, ages 6 and 4, enjoyed the hotel pool, although it was a bit small for a hotel this size. The hotel is also conveniently located to Sanibel Island for a day trip. Overall a great hotel and awesome value!

Dear Paolo,
It is always great to hear from one of our Gold members. Thank you for being a member of the SPG program and for your loyalty to Starwood Hotels and Resorts. It is wonderful to see that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found your suite to be the perfect place to unwind. Next time you visit, be sure to check out the two additional pools we have available for our guests over at the recreation center, where we also have tennis courts, bocce ball, horseshoes, a walking trail and more! We hope to see you again soon.

After searching hotels in the Fort Myers / Cape Coral area, I determined the Westin was the best value for me (it's also my favorite hotel) for an overnight business trip.

Great rate; great property, although a little isolated. My room was very comfortable, clean and had a great view of the river.

Front desk staff was exceptional; however, my margerita pizza, ordered via room service, was very average.

I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This was one of the best hotels we stayed at in a very long time. I can't believe we stayed here for well under $100 a night. Brought our two dogs with us and they did not charge us any extra charges or fees for them to stay with us. We got a $50 resort credit by using our AAA discount. We took a FREE water taxi (offered by the Westin itself) right from the marina next to the resort to Times Square area at Ft. Meyers beach (which is a whole other positive review).

Very friendly staff. They said "Welcome home" when I approached the desk. I believe the ladie's name I deal with was Mary Ann, but not sure. However, she was so great! She went over everything in the entire hotel and answered all my questions. I told her we would be interested in taking the water taxi to Ft. Meyers and she told me they had some extra beach chairs by the bell boys station if we wanted to use them at no charge. She put us on the highest floor (best room possible) without me even requesting it. She was very pleasant, funny, and easy to talk too.

Now the room was amazing. This hotel is only 4 years old and the Westin has been running it for less than a year. We got a standard room, and the bathroom was a good size with a big sink, fancy shower head and water wand, and big bright mirror. The beds not only looked comfortable they were very comfortable. Even the pillows (which they gave you so many I lost count) were great. Now the balcony was my favorite part. You walk out into a very large tile balony with a nice fan above maintaining a nice breeze. It is screened in so no issues with bugs. We have a view straight out as far as you can see. You would see water, then land, then water all the way out to the horizon. Also, had a view to the right with another section of screening. That looked over the water and out to the bay.

While the hotel is not really close to anything there are some shops in very short walking distance to the Marina, they have two restaurants on site. We visited the Nauti Mermaid a few times for some drinks. Great atmosphere and the bar tenders and servers are vey friendly. You also get to talk to some locals there that are also very friendly. We did eat there and the food was also very good. Also, they offer all kinds of activies via the hotel or at the Marina. Boat lessons caught my eye, but we did not have enought time to do that.

It's fair to say this is a great hotel to just go an relax at. We had a great time!

From the moment we arrived we felt at home here. The Grounds were clean and well kept and our room was very nice! We stayed 3 nights in a one bedroom suite with full kitchen. The screened in balcony was a nice place to have a drink after a day of shark fishing. We were picked up by our fishing charter (Capt. Gary Jenkins) right at the marina. The staff was awesome, Taylor was very helpful and we got great dining advice from the bellman (I forgot his name I'm sorry). Over all a very nice place.
