Everyone at Cedar Cove was very nice and helpful. The restaurant was great but with limited hours and it was completely renovated (beautifully) after the last hurricane. The pool area was nice. The location on Cedar Key was ideal. We had a loft unit which was perfect for us and had everything we needed for a great trip, including a beautiful view.

As for the island itself:
We had great Verizon service on the island but I did hear other carriers having no service. Cedar Key is LAID BACK - everyone we met was gracious, helpful, and informative but some may find their hours of business limiting. Expect to relax a lot while you're there. That is not to mean that you can't fill your time with boat tours, kayaking, walking, playing on the beach, and exploring - just don't expect the city of Tampa on this island... which is exactly why we will be returning as soon as we can!

Room tip: 3rd floor units have a loft

If you want a quiet place in Florida in the summer, head to Cedar Key. We arrived at 7pm on a Monday night in July. The front desk of the hotel we wanted to stay at was closed as was the front desk at another hotel we had stayed at previously. We had no cell power so went to the Fire Station and asked for recommendations. The firemen were very nice and recommended a few places - Cedar Cove being one. Although the front desk was technically closed the manager was still there and she opened up for us. We had a beautiful water front room - clean and comfortable. She also recommended that we eat at the restaurant attached to the hotel. Normally, I don't do this but we took a chance and it (The Island Room) too was wonderful. Everything is within walking distance as well. Once again proving that being flexible, and opened to suggestions makes for wonderful surprises and great memories. We will return.

Room tip: Get a water view room

The Condos are quite roomy and clean and well equipped. There is a very nice restaurant on the premises that serves a great dinner and Sunday brunch. Very large and very clean pool. Gina and her staff were very accommodating and pleasant.

Stayed here recently for a weekend. Rented a loft unit. It was clean, convenient, well equipped and comfortable. Depending on your unit, the views are nice as well. Close to everything and an easy walk.

Yes, the units are a little dated but, everything works fine and you'll enjoy yourself in Cedar Key. Besides, you're not staying inside all day...or, at least you shouldn't.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. Even when you check in after hours. The grounds are clean and well kept. Not to mention it's an affordable place to stay. Will definitely stay again.

Room tip: Get a third floor loft.

The staff here were very nice. Our first night the A/C in our room went out, there was no phone in the room or help numbers. Also we had NO cell service the whole time we were at cedar key we are with AT&T so we could not call anyone for any reason the whole visit. We tried to rent a golf cart but we were told we had to call and make a reservation but again no cell service !!! When we checked out the staff only charged us half the price for the room for the first night because of the A/C not working that night. The room had a list of wifi hookups and pass words, we could not hook up with the hotel's wifi but we did have some luck with there bar's wifi that our room was over. the bar was called the sand bar, we had breakfast on our first morning there the food and service and view were all outstanding, they were closed on Labor Day morning so we had to walk over to dock street where the restaurants were located. We were told to go to duncans to get food, we went in and stood around for about 10 mins. watching about 15 people eating, the staff did not even talk to us for almost 10 mins when they did it was to ask us to leave because they said they were closing that there cook called off and they were not serving anymore food. We had to drive to gainesville almost an hour away to find a place to eat. Cedar Key is very pretty but the ocean water looks like brackish brown water not the beautiful light blue that i am use to for the gulf side of florida ? Most of the places steamers...83 west closed before 10pm each night and it was labor day weekend ???? i guess this place and people are very rich they dont care if you have traveled on a holiday weekend to have a good time and spend hard earned money, the locals all have the same attitude they live on island time and enjoy there time off and not work !!!

Room tip: bad wifi and no cell service
