As a native Floridian, I had been to every part of Florida except Cedar Key. We checked a few ads and then chose Low-Key Hideaway. Upon arrival we were so impressed - this place is even better than it looks on the internet website. Pat & Cindy have really created something special here...a work of art. They are also professional photographers. The rooms are not huge but they are comfortable. After a trip down to Dock Street to see the local highlights we decided to grab some groceries and just hang out there at the motel. The grounds are beautiful, the hosts are friendly and the Tiki Bar is all you need for entertainment. As I was sipping a beer, the resident cardinal flew over and perched upon my head (the hair stayed dry). The Low-Key Hideway will be an annual vacation spot for us.

Room Tip: Room 5 is on the end and is only a few step from the Tiki Bar.

Relax, enjoy, like Jamica on the Florida Gulf Coast. The Low Key Hideaway in Cedar Key is totally amazing. The motel was originally a little motel on the causeway going into Cedar Key. It has been converted into a truely amazing place by two amazing people.

This is a resort, a small one, but never the less a resort for couples with a nice tiki bar, emaculate grounds, a great pier that has nice seating over the water. The attention to detail is astounding, with lighting at night, sculputed gardens and totally unique decorations all over, even around the RV Hook Up spaces.

THE ROOMS
The room was really the best part of our stay. The furnishings, kitchen, layout and decorations were tasteful, CLEAN and equiped, did I mention attention to detail? The rooms knock it out of the park with romance; hence the theme of a couple's retreat with your dogs in tow. I will not say anything negative about the rooms but remember the original structure gave a limited level of space. We stayed in the Purple Room and it was really exceptional.

SERVICE - EXCEPTIONAL
The love of my life is a business owner so she picks up on service quicker than I do. You can tell the owners enjoy their place, it is their passion and the service shows it.

LOCATION
Great, you are in shouting distance from the little town of Cedar Key, which is one of my favorite places in the world. Cedar Key is a fishing village that is catching on with Bohemnian people aroung the U.S., it is still small, quiet and quaint and the people are so nice. The unspoiled scenery and wildlife still abound; the Pelicans are local residents in force.

AMENITIES
The Tiki Bar and it's dock are totally charming and maybe 50 feet from your room, or RV so you can freely walk to the dock, pick up your Tiki Bar Drink of Choice and head out to the pier / dock swings or enjoy hanging out in the bar, BTW the Low Key clientel is the best, really nice people and everybody has a dog.

Another big plus is the covered pation outside of the rooms with great seating and scenery; you can chat up the guests really easily and get to know their dogs.

SUMMARY
Clean, Cool, Relaxing, Unique - great

Thanks so much to the owners - a great couple with a tremendous creation

Room Tip: I liked the Purple Room

Such a uniques place. The owners are so nice and you can tell they love each other and what they have created there. We attended a wedding there. It was a perfect spot for a casual wedding. They have a really unique tiki bar. The husband does incredible photography and the wife wears many hats and is good at all.

This is a great little hotel right on the water. Great views. Laid back. Fun, clean, easy going folks who own the joint and folks who stay there as well. I had a great time. Even though it rained like crazy for two days. We had 2 couples and we just hung out on the covered patio behind our room and just talked the day away. The Tiki Bar is something to behold. Really neat and the locals from around town hang out as well. Open from 4-9 daily. Closed on Wednesdays. Pretty much everything in town closes at 9:00pm. And remember one item. Bring cash with you. Lots of folks in town do not accept credit cards.

I would go back in a heart beat. Town is cute. No Burger Kings or garbage like that in town. This is an old florida town with all of its history in tack. Please stay that way Cedar Key. If you are looking for Universal Studios type fun. Stay in Orlando. If you are looking to stay. Be friendly to everyone you see. Tourist and locals. You will have a great time.

Room Tip: No restaurant and no pool. but who cares.

I'm an artist and a friend of mine who lives in Florida sent me an article about the Low Key Hideaway. Definitely had to see this place. In the end we also discovered the wonderful Cedar Key, which we loved so much as well as the LKH, that we returned there during our 3 1/2 weeks travels in Florida.

The Bonish's took an old-skool small motel and made it into a piece of art on the outside and comfy suites with eclectic decor on the inside. Walk out your door and you have a private patio. Go a few yards and the Gulf is right there, as well as a garden to sit in, a pier to be out over the water and the fabulous Tiki Bar, a grand local and traveler hang-out. Good fun but not too loud and closes early enough, so no worries about lost sleep.

Rooms book well in advance and for the most part, you definitely want to stay in one of the suites. We booked on short notice and could only get Room 1. Room 1 is a small room without a direct entrance to a back patio, like all the Suites have. Fortunately for us, other guests left and we were able to move into Suite 5. And it was sweet indeed. On our return trip, we stayed in Suite 4, also nice, but I liked Suite 5 best.

Do bring your low-key, laid-back attitude with you because there are a couple things to contend with. The bathrooms are small and the TV doesn't get a lot of channels. We could get Wifi in room one and occasionally in Suite 5 and never in Suite 4. I even had cellular mobile on my Ipad, but the signal wasn't strong enough to download email etc. But not to worry, just pop into Cedar Key for some coffee and you can get super-fast wifi at the Away From The World Cafe on 2nd Street. But the view, the artistic vibe, the super comfy beds balance everything out. And if you don't mind a bit of a trek, you can even walk into town. Go there.

Room Tip: Definitely go for the Suites. Suite 5 felt the largest to us.

This place is a little gem. You could not ask for a better location right on the water with a nice little pier for sunsets. We were only their two nights and could have done more easily. Rooms were clean and updated and owners were very friendly as were all other guest we met. Only problem I would mention would be wifi signal. Great place if your looking to decompress as is Cedar key.

Room Tip: Room 3 has no stove.
