It's hard to tell if Steamers is a restaurant that serves booze or a bar that serves food. I think most people who see it for the first time would think the latter because it looks more like a bar. There are several great selections of craft beer along with the usual domestics. The fully stocked bar that takes up a large part of the dining room offers daily mixed drink specials - Friday was Bahama Mamas for $5. We opted for that day's special of Cigar Brewing Company ale for $1 a glass. My wife and I both ordered the fried grouper sandwich dinner for $12.99. The fresh and perfectly cooked slab of grouper was served on a ciabatta bun with all the fixings along with a choice of French fries, cole slaw or potato salad. We opted for the fries which were extremely addictive. It was raining during our visit so we grabbed a table next to the windows overlooking the gulf. The panoramic view, good food and $1 beer made the experience quite enjoyable. Our waitress Diana was very friendly and efficient. There was no live music at lunch while we were there which was another plus for this couple. At night you can hear the music a block away so I can only wonder how loud it must be in the dining room. We will definitely come back to Steamers on our next visit to Cedar Key - at lunch time again so that we can peacefully enjoy the food and view.
