“A Time Machine!”
Reviewed 14 March 2014

Smallwood's General Store was boarded up when we first started coming to Everglades City.

We are so thankful that his heirs had the courage to go in, route the spiders, etc, clean everything up and put it back just the way it was.

Pretty much all the history of Chokoloskee Island is in here. You must visit as no caption could contain it all.

“Brings back memories”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

While looking at the merchandise for sale, I kept saying "I remember that stuff...." What a great place to visit. The corner tv that loops the video of Loren "Totch" Brown convinced me to buy his book: a great history of early days in southwest Florida.

“Nostalgic and fun!”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

My friends' canoe guide recommend coming here, and I am very glad. It was a fun piece of old Florida, and interesting stories are told here. I had never heard of a "skunk ape" or the famous Mr. Watson. Old bottles, cans, flour sacks, utensils, etc. line the walls and ceiling. It was certainly worth the price of admission ($5) and the views are endless.

“MUST SEE for Naples visitors”

This is an amazing step back in time. All sorts of interesting tibias of Everglades history. Definitely at the end of the road. Make it part of an "Day in the Everglades".

“So glad for this store/museum”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

'Twas magical: Rick Magers, a seasoned local author tells unforgettable stories of his travels and of the Everglades. The contrast: at the front desk is a local high school girl and her boyfriend. I kept thinking of the experience of being 17 and working in such a wonderful place. A "must see" on Chokolaskie
