We love the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and there's no where else like it. Don't expect a big flashy aquarium though because this is a marine animal rescue and rehabilitation center. Spending about 2 hours there is plenty of time. It's a great chance for an educational and hands-on experience for kids. And all the Dolphin Tale movie plus seeing Winter adds some excitement. Our 6 year old was really excited about the dolphin photo opp where he went on the platform in the dolphin enclosure and got to touch Hope and get his photo taken with her ($40). And, the aquarium is a non-profit so the money spent there goes to the animals and the facility. Highly recommended for a unique Clearwater Beach local experience.

I am from New Zealand and since I first heard about Winter, I have been wanting to visit her. We drove for nearly 2 hours just to visit the aquarium and when we got there it was a huge dissapointment. First of all, way too overpriced. They charge you way too much for what it's actually worth. The facility was run down and there were hardly any animals. The enclosures I think were disgusting, small, dirty and un-natural. I saw Winter, but actually got a little sad because she was just laying there motionless in her tiny pool.

I swear they didn't even film the movie in this place because it looked much better in the film!
I spent the rest of the day at the beach and had an amazing time, no thanks to the aquarium.

Live on the same street where the aquarium is located and recently visited with visiting family due to the hype of the movie. Yes, a sequel is in the works and more hype and excitement, filming here again!

I was not impressed, kids were though for awhile. Bring $$$ because it is hard to say "No" to all the purchases you might need to make for the kids! (and pictures too!)You can also take the Jolley Trolley, part of package, a short distance away in Downtown Clearwater, Harborview Center to visit the "movie sets" that were used in the first movie. Shop available to buy things as well. Obviously people are drawn to this attraction because very crowded when we visited and continue to see the crowds on a daily basis due to living here!

My daughter is a huge fan of Dolphin Tale and has been asking to see the "real" Winter. Since we were going to Orlando, we decided to fly into Tampa and drive to Clearwater to visit her. As mentioned by other reviewers, I recommend getting there early. We arrived at 9:30 and went right up to see Winter. There were maybe 10 other people by her tank and we got to spend 15 minutes of easy viewing time. We were booked for the 10:00 Behind the Scenes Tour so we went back outside to meet up with our group at about 9:55. The website states that the tour takes a max of 12 people and we had 9 on ours. The guide, Tom, is a former Board Director for the Aquarium and has been volunteering there for 17 years--he was very passionate and was a wealth of information. Even though they are currently filming, you can still see almost all of the facility. The tour takes you behind the turtle tanks and into the new hospital building. It isn't necessarily what you see, but more all of the information that you get that makes the tour so worthwhile. After the tour was over at 11:00 we went back up to see Winter again and by that time the crowd was closer to 100 or more. We went by the stingrays and then took the trolley to the Dolphin Tale portion. I would say this is just for fans of the movie, as it is mostly movie props. We got a good lunch recommendation from Tom--a place called Tony's just a block from the Dolphin Tale. Our daughter was thrilled with the trip and we felt it was well worth the time to make the trip to Clearwater.
