“Close to downtown”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

Residence Inns are very inconsistent. This hotel is a few blocks to downtown, but mostly you have to drive to restaurants miles away. It has a nice facade outside, but very generic, dirty, and smelly on the ground floor. Personnel were friendly, got checked in quickly and then when ready to enter my room a man came out to tell the cleaning lady that his wife was still in the shower and that she should come back later. I went back to the front desk and waited 10 minutes for them to change me to an unoccupied room. The new room was very clean and mostly quiet.

Room Tip: Choose north side of tower away from road noise.

Thank you for taking the time to post comments about our property. I truly appreciate all feedback from our guests. You are correct in saying you have to drive to local restaurants for the most part our guests love driving to the beach to get something to eat. I am truly sorry for the inconvenience of checking you into an occupied room, which is clearly an error we need to look into. Thank you again

Arrived around 18:00, after waiting for ages in a line of traffic which we later found out to be the queue for the beach!!! Bearing in mind we arrived on a Saturday evening, this queue went on till past 19:30 and was there most of the day Sunday.

We were checked in by Randal, who was most helpful and obliging, we had a room on the fourth floor, which was a studio and consisted of a king bed, bathroom, kitchen with full amenities, sofa and the now to be expected large TV. The room was immaculate and you could have spent two weeks, or more, in it easily. It had everything you needed and was kept tidy and clean by the room staff.

Free buffet breakfast of cold and hot choices was also supplied within the tariff, as was the parking. Although we did not use it, there is a nice pool attached to the hotel if you require it.

We went to the north and south beach area using the "jolly trolley" from the Park Street bus terminus, which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. It is good value and costs $4.50 per adult for a day pass, which can also be used on the normal buses. A word of warning, there is a lot of waiting around for the "not so Jolly Trolley’s" as we renamed them and you have to know where you want to go as the map you get from the hotel is not much help and if you get the moody "school bus" driver we had the first time we tried to board, she is as much use as a chocolate fire guard!! This was not typical of the other two drivers we experienced, who were very helpful. Just have an idea where you want to go to.

The hotel overall was in a reasonable location, however, the traffic issue could be a concern if you want to drive to the beach. There was a lot of noise from the in room AC when it fired off and when it was running, which could upset some light sleepers.

Overall, the room and facilities were very good and we would stay there again.

Very nice inn for a traveler with or without family. King Studio suite was great with place for our local family to stop over visit and have dinner with us in the room without crowding each other.

Inn is right on the main road to Clearwater beach, so you can hop the local bus, to save yourself trying to find a parking space on the beach.

Residence Inn felt like a home away from home. We will be staying there again when visiting the our children grand children in Clearwater.

We rented a two bedroom suite for our daughter and friend and us (her parents). The suite was immaculate, smelled fresh, had comfortable furniture and beds, good showers, and was quiet. The staff was friendly and helpful. When I asked for dinner recommendations, was given a printout with several nearby choices; the restaurant we picked from the list was outstanding (O'Keefe's). The gym was not the best -- treadmills were outdated and it was a bit musty. Walked to nearby Rita's for dessert later that evening and felt very safe. Parking was plentiful and close by. We didn't have time to use the pool. Watched Kentucky beat Wisconsin in basketball; each bedroom and the living room had a large flatscreen TV. I would recommend this hotel. It isn't fancy, but nice and priced right.

Room Tip: We were on the 5th floor near the stairs (above the gym). This was a quiet location, except for the...

We recently stayed at the Residence inn during a trip to see the Phillies for Spring training. We had a two bedroom suite and I couldn't believe how spacious it was. Two large bedrooms each with its own full bath. Perfect for our family of 4. The rooms were clean and in wonderful condition. We ate breakfast on the late side one morning and the woman who was working the dining area did a great job restocking the food items and bringing guests what they wanted even though the hours for breakfast were over. When we checked in the gentleman behind the front desk was also very friendly and helpful. Overall, a great choice if you visit clearwater. We'll be back!

We had a two bedroom unit, and no complaints. It was safe, and fairly quiet. The furniture could have been more comfortable though, and the maid service was just OK. There were a lot of youth sports teams there during our stay, and breakfast and the elevators were very crowded. Overall it is OK, and I would stay here again. Theres not much in the immediate area though. Clearwater beach is only a few miles away, and I would stay there instead next time.

Room Tip: It would be a lot quieter on the north side

I had never stayed at a Residence Inn and perhaps I should of done my homework a bit better on them. Just returned from a 4 night stay. We were in a studio room with a king bed. The hotel was completely full so no upgrades were available. It was full of different kids sports team on 2 of the nights.
The room was spacious - offering a kitchen and pull out sofa area. However we had some issues in the room. In the bathroom -- the shower had several large cracks in the tile on the wall and the shower curtain rod was broken. We mentioned to the front desk that all we needed was a screw to fix the rod. But it never came nor was it ever fixed. So when we showered the floor got totally soaked. I wouldn't really have minded just wiping up the water -- however towels were sparse. Each day we had to search for our "maid" to get new ones. Washcloths were hard to come by -- in fact I used a dish towel one morning from the kitchen.
I thought we would get daily maid service -- replenish towels -- change the sheets -- clean the bathroom. However that is not the case. I was told they only change the sheets every 4 nights -- so we only stayed 4 nights -- so we normally would not get clean sheets but we did manage to get fresh ones on the 3rd night after going back and forth with the front desk. They never vacuumed or wiped the counters or anything...which I find odd.
In reading previous reviews about the Front Desk -- they seem to solve everything. However anything we asked them -- they seemed dumbfounded. One night we got stuck in the rain and we wanted to use the dryers to dry our jackets. Well you need quarters to run the dryer -- you would think they would have a little machine in the laundry room that would make change for you -- but they don't. So I went down to the front desk and they were going to have to "send out" for quarters -- I only needed 8 -- well we never got them. We also had an issue with our AC. It wouldn't go down past 70 degrees which is warm for us. I called the Front Desk and they said they would send someone from Maintenance up...we waited a bit then someone from the front desk came up and showed up how to reprogram the system.....we were happy however in the middle of the night it went back up to 70 . . . .so we asked them again the next day -- however no one ever came. A few other things with them however I won't bother to mention.
This hotel also does not have any restaurant or lounge and you cannot walk to anything from here -- you definitely need a car....it's on a busy street with nothing around. There is however a nice park next door that we did walk.
As far as the breakfast is concerned -- we couldn't get near it with all the kids that were staying there for their Lacrosse game. No big deal though.
So in closing I don't think the Residence Inn's are for us !
