My wife and I were staying in the Holiday Inn Clearwater Beach. I kept looking out the window toward a small island I later determined to be Sand Key. There right before my eyes was the neatest little beach I had ever seen.
I said to myself, I have to go check this out. I did for the next two days.
What a delight! This is a nice size, clean beach, ideal for families, and shells wash ashore every bit as often as on Captiva and Sanibel Islands which we also visited.
One morning I arrived about 7:45, paid my $5.00 parking charge and walked on down to the beach. There were dozens of very new shells. As I was one of the very first to arrive, I found four perfect specimens which are now in a bowl on our den table.
This is a relatively quiet area---a wonderful place to go for a relaxing day at the beach. It's not glamorous, but sometimes you don't want glamorous when you go to the beach. Sometimes you just want serenity.
I found it at Sand Key Park. Come check it out.
