Picture this...you stroll into what looks like someone's back yard and go through the gate and it's a Caribbean themed terrace with a bar inside what appears to be a garage, complete with sliding down garage door for inclement weather. THIS PLACE ROCKS. You have a waiter with dreadlocks who has the personality to be a performer and looks like he's right off the boat from St. Croix; an owner that whips together just about anything you could want from the 5 star restaurants, and a bartender that manages the place and humors the clientele...and if you don't want to dine OUT on the terrace there's in indoor dining room for the stuffier crowd... music on the terrace several nights a week - well, if you live within an hour of the place you'll become a regular...

Went to this place with 3 others and found an out of the way local gem. Music, relaxed atmosphere, and great food prepared just right. We all had different meal choices and tasted all. We were not disappointed with anything. The music was playing and the service was just " humming" along. Nancy, the owner, made the rounds and knew almost everyone and made everyone feel at home. It is worth finding out about this place. It is not very far from the center of Clearwater.

My wife and I have lived in Clearwater for over 10 years and this is our favorite restaurant to take friends to, out of town guests and just hang out. They have daily specials, including home made soups.

The menu is mostly seafood (both raw and prepared) and cooked to order. There are a few American classics like their burgers, wings and salads. The fries are a little greasy, but you can substitute. The specials range from Italian to Cajun to down home comfort foods like meatloaf and biscuits and gravy. It's all good and prepared fresh.

Complimentary beignets (lightly fried pastry dough with powered sugar) are offered after every meal, kind of a New Orleans tradition, I guess. Heck, they're free so why not indulge a little.

The only alcohol is beer and wine. The beer is ice cold and in bottles and cans. There is only one draft beer, so this is not the place for the craft beer connoisseur. Try their Sangria, it's a house specialty and made fresh to order.

Seating is limited, it's a small place, but they do take reservations. The inside part has AC and it's more intimate. The outside is more family style seating with large tables, but there are a few tables for parties of 4 or 5. Off the patio is a large outdoor area with picnic tables and games like horseshoes. This area is great for larger family get togethers, reunions etc.

The "garage" is the outdoor bar with several tables and seating at the bar. There is a large screen TV that has sports on most of the time. Seating is limited, but a fun place for a few guys to hang out and watch the game.

Like Joan below, I kind of hesitate to recommend this jewel, because of how popular it's become in the last couple of years. But you should know where the locals go and this is it. Enjoy the best Clearwater has to offer.

I almost hate to recommend this little jewel because I want there to be seats and service when we arrive. We have been regulars after discovering this "hidden treasure" a few years ago. The first appearance when you arrive might have you asking did I just arrive on an Island? The yellow cement building and wooden fence should not deter you from going inside and trying some of the best food in the area; plus a fun atmosphere. Everything we have had there would be 3 times as much pricewise and not as good in any 4 star restaurant. My favorite is the shrimp in a red sauce served with garlic bread. You can add a salad and linguine for $4.00. They offer daily meals all very delicious and reasonably priced. The catfish is great; so is the homemade soups and sandwiches with a great variety. They offer good entertainment certain nights and it makes for a very festive evening. Most of the restaurant is outside with picnic type tables and a bar area with seating and a large screen tv. They also have an air conditioned inside area. Just for your information; don't judge a book by it's cover you could eat off the bathroom floors they are so clean. Nanci the owner is a "hoot" and excellent chef and is usually around to make sure all is running well. She has a crew who have stayed with her since she opened and they are all great. Great prices on food and beer and wine also. Warning it can be habit-forming!!
