Was a bit weary having read some of the reviews, but it was better than I thought. This place is actually the first place on Clearwater beach after a bridge so its easy to find and really close to everything in the main beach area. We rented a car but realized we didn't need to because everything is within walking distance.

Some of the other hotels on the beach we have stayed at are a bit nicer but also cost ALOT more, and when you are staying for a week like we did that extra money really came in handy.

Rooms are pretty clean, pool area is nice and quiet and peacefully plus there is a jet ski rental in the back on the dock, pretty cool.

Would definitely recommend this place, was perfect for the price.

Room Tip: The deluxe room was really nice.

We reserved this motel for 3 days and sorry we did. The motel was clean and located close to the beach. When we found out that the shower had serious issues (extremely hot to freezing cold repeatedly within seconds) we brought it to their attention and they said they would try to fix it. When we came back from the beach, he said "it should be better." To our dismay, it was exactly the same so we asked for a new room. They said they were completely booked (but the vacancy sign was still up). I looked online and there were plenty of rooms available and still they said there was nothing they could do. All we wanted was a shower. We checked out the next morning and was not compensated for our loss.We received an apology and what happened was "unacceptable"???? and that we should have received another room. Thanks!!!!! I know things happen, but the customer service was horrible and that is no way to run a business ( lie to your PAYING customers). Overall a nice place, but if something goes wrong...you are on your own....Who needs to shower anyways...NEVER AGAIN...

We stayed at Barefoot Bay for a total of 3 nights. The rooms were comfortable and clean although we did notice a musty smell when we first arrived, but a few sprays of Febreeze each day took care of that. The location was awesome-didnt need the car once we arrived-within walking distance to LOTS of restaurants, stores and most importantly, the beach! Very pedestrian friendly. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. They didnt have a business center, but allowed us to print our boarding passes which was a nice time saver for us. Was it a (4) star luxury resort? Nope. But it was a good place for the price and location and we definately give it a two thumbs up and would not only stay here again, but recommend to friends and family.

My wife and I stayed here for one night during Spring Break. We were going to stay longer but had bad weather earlier in the week. It's literally a three minute walk to the beach and Pier 60. It's located on the marina side of the island which makes it much easier to get in and out of vs. staying on the beach. If it's peak travel season, you don't want to drive any more than you have to in the area and spend an hour looking for a parking spot. The hotel was a bit older and reminded us of "Melrose Place", but the rooms were very clean and well maintained. Our only real complaints were that the beds were very soft and the towels were pretty thin, but they probably go thru a lot of towels disappearing between the pool and beach. We had a very large room w/ a kitchenette overlooking the marina and were quite pleased with the accommodations. The staff was very friendly and helpful with directing us to restaurants and where to park near the beach (we wanted to avoid the Spring Break crowds so we drove a mile or so north of the hotel). There was a pool and deck area w/ a BBQ that looked nice but we didn't have a chance hang out there. If you're looking for a super luxurious B&B or five star hotel, this is not it. But if you're looking for a clean, comfortable place for a beach vacation, it's worth a try. Overall we were happy with the stay and hope to be back soon.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the marina.

We just returned from a 5 night stay at the Barefoot Bay.

Pros: Great pool and deck area. It is well maintained with lots of lounge chairs and towels. The location of the hotel is excellent. It's a 3 minute walk to the beach, pier and restaurants. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful.

Cons: We stayed in a Standard Queen room and it was fairly small. The bathroom was VERY small.

Overall: We had a good experience. Other then the small bathrooms, no complaints. We will definetely be back but may try a larger room next time.

My family and I stayed at BBR in early April 2010(temps were great in the low to mid 80's). After a fast paced week at Disney this was just what we needed. Its a small motel style place, room are small but big enough for us since we werent in the room much. We had two queen beds and there is a table with chairs, small kitchen area w/ microwave, sink, dishes & coffeepot. This is not a chain type hotel, so furnishings were bit more homey, but nonetheless clean. The pool is right outside the rooms and they have a great deck area with chairs & tables and a grill for guest use. We met friends here so the deck was great for the evenings, after the kids went to bed, us adults were able to sit in the deck area within 5 feet and eyeshot of the door to the room and have drinks. There is a small little marina on the other side of the motel which adds to the charm of the BBR. The cleaning lady was very friendly and Warren(one fo the front desk guys) just stole our hearts and my kids still ask when we are going back to see him (we even took a pic of him). We loved the place and the area so much we stayed an extra night and were able to stay in the same room. The beach is so close and so are all the shops and restaurants. If you are looking for a well priced yet clean place to unwind relax, enjoy the beach and make family memories....I would reccomend BBR....its not a high frills place so if you are into chandliers and bellboys look elsewhere....if we are ever in Clearwater again we will definately stay at BBR.
