“Very good food....”
Reviewed 19 January 2005

The Beachcomber came highly recommended and the food did not disappoint. The succulent Beachcomber Braised Grouper was worth the visit. Five stars on this front.

Ambiance was interesting. One room has large model sailboats on the wall – nice fit for the waterfront theme. The other room has a different feel, featuring a piano player, white leather booths and a wrought iron chandelier.

While the service seemed very attentive for the tables around me (several families and groups of couples in their 50s and 60s), as a solo diner I felt somewhat neglected. I waited for quite some time before anyone brought me water. To his credit, it may have been the owner who finally noticed and brought it to me himself! Though I saw him point me out to one of the waitresses, it was still a good 5-10 minutes before she came over - even though she stopped by the larger tables several times in that period. Long waits as well for bread and in between salad and entrée. Finally, when she left the check, she said: "are you going to pay me when you're ready?" Just felt a little off. Hopefully others have had better luck.

All told, gets a four on the strength of the food. Would have been a five without the bumpy service.

“Best Dinner in Florida Fortnight”
Reviewed 28 July 2004

The Beachcomber is a great place to dine and was easily the best dinner we had as a family during our 3 days in Clearwater and 11 days in Orlando.

Service is very professional, good menu, wine list is fantastic but too big to make selection easy.

Our children 12 + 14 were made to feel welcome and managed to find something on the menu they were happy with.

Would have gladly returned had it not been our last night in Clearwater.

Highly recommended.

“Loved Bob Heilman's Beachcomber Restaurant”
Reviewed 12 July 2004

We stayed at the Hilton on Clearwater Beach this weekend. That is a very iffy hotel - if you can get a room overlooking the pool and beach, that is the way to go. The view was fantastic. The hotel is going to be fully renovated starting in August 2004.
The Beachcomber Restaurant is a block from the hotel. This was a first class restaurant, not really a kids place. Casual dress is okay since it is close to the beach. Wonderful experienced staff and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the bronzed grouper. The wine list was also extensive. The prices were very reasonable for such a quality restaurant. I believe this is the best restaurant on the beach. If you want a very nice dinner, that's the place to go. They also have a lovely lunch.
