We stayed in a gulf view room overlooking the lagoon-style pool and beach. The rooms are excellent, beds comfy, granite-top bathroom counters with plenty of space, nice balcony, quiet even with children at the resort.
We didn't use the wet bar, but did use the mini-fridge. Service at this resort is outstanding! They know you by name and go the extra mile to make sure you are happy. The activities desk has towels, fresh cold water for you as you enter/exit beach area. We rented a beach cabana for $20 half day - came with a small table and fits two lounge chairs with plenty of leftover room. The pool chairs have a flag to raise when you are wanting a drink or service. The pool is clean, warm, and spacious open until 10 p.m. Soft beach music is playing from morning til evening near the pool/beach area.
The spa is nice. Use of jacuzzi/steam room is complimentary throughout the day you have an appointment. They offer cucumber-water and lemon-water in the spa lounge.
Our children enjoyed Camp Ridley one morning. Very friendly helpers there. $15 per hour per child; more if you do the half or full day camp. Be sure to check out the daily activities at the concerige desk as they offer a family s'mores night at the beach fire pit next to the Tate Island Grill and other family activities (kite flying, etc.)
TIPS - You are given two bottles of water and chocolates at turn down service every night. But if you want more water, drinks, snacks, instead of using the expensive ones priced in the wetbar area, walk across the street to CVS Pharmacy to purchase and then make use of the mini-fridge in your dresser area under the TV.
There is a Starbucks and market in the resort lobby level with fresh fruit, yogurt, gourmet cheeses, wines, crackers, candies, and other treats. They offer gelato but only a couple flavors. Walk just one block over (in area with ClearSky Cafe) to Gelato Bella for a real treat of many flavors of gelato and cappiccinos to die for! Excellent service at Gelato Bella too.
We had breakfast at ClearSky Cafe (adjacent to Sandpearl) and it was nice. Had lunch and dinner at Frenchy's Rockaway on the other side of the Sandpearl (you can walk on the sidewalk/street or shorter walk by beach to get to it). We ate outside at Frenchy's both times and it was nice. It's the colorful place with large yellow beach umbrellas on the patio and volleyball nets on the beach.
Ate lunch at the resort's Tate Island Grill but service was extremely slow - everything from getting our drinks, meal, and bill. Food was fair. More options and better service at Frenchy's.
We were going to eat at Caretta's on the Gulf for breakfast (the nice restaurant at the resort) but there was no hostess when we waited and the a/c in their was freezing, so we left and grabbed a few items from the market and ate outdoors. The menu at Caretta's looked nice and they do offer outdoor seating.
Enjoy a short drive north to Tarpon Springs for Greek food at Mama's Greek Cuisine with outdoor porch (there are two, go to the bigger one for more options and belly dancing on Sunday nights).
We rented a car from the Tampa Airport - drive about 30 min. to Sandpearl - but you could easily walk to everything from the Pier 60, marinas, restaurants, stores, etc. and never need a vehicle unless you wanted to take a day trip to Tarpon Springs or Dunedin.
Ate lunch at Crabby Bill's on the marinas and had excellent banana colodas and mahi mahi sandwich.
Captain Mike at DreamCatcher boats was great - wonderful tour to a secluded island (bird life sanctuary), included tubing, snorkeling, dolphin viewing, shelling at great price for 3 hours.
There is a business center on the lobby level where you can print off boarding passes or use computers. Wi-fii worked fine for our laptops.
This resort is top-notch no doubt. Easily the best stay in Clearwater. Would recommend for families, singles, honeymooners, any age is accommodated here. They do charge a $16 valet parking fee and a $15 resort fee daily. We were told this on the front end and it says it on the website, so I wasn't surprised at all by any "hidden" fees.
