I looked at the reviews of the hotel before we travelled and thought omg. I am pleased to say that we were pleasantly surprised.

From the time we arrived at the front desk, we were upgraded and had a wonderful room on the 6th floor with views overlooking the pool and the gulf, we took some amazing photographs. The hotel is situated on the beach front and the staff around the pool and the bar were polite. I could not understand from other reviews about not being enough sunbeds, there was plenty. Okay the pool was not the biggest and perhaps people like to sunbath beside this, but personally I used the sunbeds beside the beach and could walk down to the sea.

Our stay was wonderful, yes there are a few good restaurants across the road from the hotel which we did use, but the bar was lively, the shop was well stocked and I can say we will definately come back and stay.

My wife had stayed here last year for her high school reunion, and insisted we come back for a weekend getaway, and so we did. We were greeted warmly by the concierge / doorman, Dennis, who took a special interest in us all weekend long - from recommending and making reservations for dinner on Friday night, to just checking on us and making sure all our needs were being taken care of.

The front desk was equally helpful, including the manager. When he asked if I had a laptop, he provided us with a free access code for the weekend. We stayed on the 6th floor, the very last room (#626) facing out to the pool and beach. The room was adequate with a lovely balcony and two chairs and a table.

One small issue was that we had to settle for a room with two queen beds as all the rooms with a king bed were sold out. But that's OK, as we did not make our reservation until a few days before.

We had breakfast both mornings plus dinner Saturday night at the hotel's Rusty Bistro. The dining room is very large, with two levels of seating. Dinner had live music which we thoroughly enjoyed. We arrived for dinner at 8:30pm. II had their Saturday night buffet (all you can eat prime rib, crab legs, and other seafood). My wife had a caesar salad in a parmesan cheese bowl, and risotto with shrimp. The risotto was outstanding, with a very interesting orange flavored sauce.

The pool was superb. Clear, cold and clean. It was large enough for children to be in the shallow end, and allow adults to swim and socialize in the deeper end. They had a separate small children's pool. We also took advantage of their outdoor hot tub/spa, which appears to comfortably alllow 10 or more adults.

My husband and I entered into the Sheraton Sand Key Resort and the word resort was laughable. We walked in and were not greeted one time. We spoke to the representative at the front desk and I verified that we were getting the ocean view that I was told on the phone that we were getting. To our displeasure, we were told that all the rooms were booked and that we were getting the view of the tennis courts! The representative was not accomodating and would not change the rooms. My husband and I were shocked and decided before we actually checked in, that we would need to see the room. We walked down the hallway to the smell of a cheap fragrance overpowering the halls to the room with a large gap between the door and the floor. When we walked into the room, the room smelled like mold, there was a loud generator sound, and a view of a parking lot and tennis courts. We were absolutely not going to say in that room so we spoke to the manager and she was unwilling to accomodate us. She stated that the hotel was booked due to a conference and would not accomodate us with another room or offer a credit. We chose to look for a hotel elsewhere and found oustanding service at the Sandpearl Resort and Spa on a walk in basis, so glad we did.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 days to attend a beach wedding. Majority of staff were very nice but did encounter some snotty persons at the front desk and at the cash register in the Island Grille restaurant. Layout of hotel is great -- everything is easy to reach and beach is very close by. Rusty's Bistro in the hotel had great service and food. Would also recommend Jimmy's Fish House & Iguana Bar in Clearwater. Be careful what you say in the bathroom of the hotel rooms, though, as the walls are very thin. I could very clearly hear what the couple in the next room were saying to each other...including that the bottle with the top open was the shampoo and that she left the shower running for him.

Hotel requires you to pay extra for usual included amenities: refrigerator use, internet, and even the fitness center! I will not be returning here.

Friendly and helpful pool attendant; ok poolside cafe; very good high end restaurant. Location was interesting. You could either love or hate being way out this far out. Right on beach, though, which was great.

Stayed here for 2 weeks over easter, inc son's 7th birthday and anniversary. After long 9hour flight from UK then 2 hour drive to the beach it was wonderful to find a surprise birthday present for my son and champagne & strawberries on ice for us ! We hadn't paid for a gulf view room but had a ground floor room with a terrace overlooking the pool/beach and gulf of mexico. Hotel staff couldn't be nicer, very kind gentleman on reception gave my 2 children a free ice cream coupon on our first day which they still talk about and the most amazing easter egg hunt i've ever seen put on by the hotel with free coffee and donuts for adults!!!
Set right on the beach, beautiful sunset photos and walks along the beach to local shops and restaurants (great nearby breakfast cafe Maggie Mae's)
Hotel food very good and good prices for a hotel but plenty of american diners nearby.
Hotel has a small shop that sells milk and pastries for a quick breakfast in your room if required. Car hire a must, not much in walking distance and the heat makes this impossible anyway.
None of us could think of anything that would make this hotel better than it is...Paradise, i sincerely hope we get to go back one day.
