“excellent chinese food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2013

My husband loves Chinese food. We were vacationing in the Clearwater area and went to Clearwater on a rain day to shop. We had our fill of sea food and steaks and was ready for some good chinese food. We were not disappointed. Food excellent.Served more food than you could possibly eat. Egg rolls home made;very good. Good friendly service. Restaraunt clean.Very reasonably priced.

“Very Average Food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 February 2013

Despite the warm welcome and the agreeable service, regret to say that we had a very average dinner at Tans. The steamed dim sum were very stodgy - as an appetiser you get six pieces Which is quite a helping. The fried dim sum (same filling as steamed but fried; also six peices served as an appetiser) were a little better. J ordered a beef lo mein - beef nicely cooked but the whole dish had no flavour. I order the seafood combination; again just totally lacking in flavour and the accompanying fried rice was very dry. We tried this as an antidote to places serving fish sandwiches, ribs or burgers but were very disppaointed.

“Tired of Seafood and Want Some Very Good Chinese?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2013

Off the beaten path, my wife and I ordered spring rolls, hot and sour soup and Gai Kow. The food was fresh and plentiful and the cost very reasonable. A good place to go for something different when most of the restaurants around serve the usual fares of burgers, sandwiches, steaks, chicken, pizza and fish.

“How can anyone give this place more than one star?! Am I being punked? This is a joke right?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 February 2013 via mobile

Were these people all paid to say how great this place is?! You've got to be kidding me! We gave Tan's two chances, thinking that our first experience there might have been a fluke.... But sadly it is true.... This place totally sucks!! The hot and sour soup is bland, the Hunan chicken and chicken broccoli were nearly identical, but the Hunan had a little spice and some baby corn and bamboo shoots added-- however the chicken was gross and rubbery in both. It honestly had such a weird texture I couldn't eat it. The sweet and sour chicken contained mystery bits of cartilage, veins, fat and who knows what.. General Tsos was pretty much like mystery chicken bits with a spicy sweet sauce, virtually inedible. The fried rice was just browned rice that had an odd slightly sweet flavor and contained a random pea here and there, so that it became more of a game of find the pea. The dumplings contained-- I'm not sure exactly what-- these little white clumps that could have been fat...I'm just going to believe it was fat since I dont want to imagine what it was-- but gross! And the best for last-- the egg rolls -- the shredded cabbage inside had decent flavor but on closer inspection no one in my family could figure out what all the hot pink bits were inside-- the texture was scary and best guess-- it was macerated bits of pork and shrimp mixed with a heavy dose of pure fat, and the ratio was 99% fat nuggets to actual meat. Wow, so gross!!

How could ANYONE, say this restaurant is good? No one in my family would ever eat here again. There are just too many questionable elements to this food to make it edible. You shouldn't be afraid or have to wonder what the heck you're feeling in your mouth when biting into your food. So those reviews can't be real-- it just doesn't make sense! HORRIBLE! And in a final note-- my son was throwing up within 30 minutes but then again he was the only one who ate the whole bowl of soup.

“Best deal on the beach”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 February 2013

I've been going here for years, and it's the best deal on the beach. Lunch specials for about $5 with soup or an egg roll. Service is always fast and the food is always great.
