“An Excellent Value!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 October 2008

I stayed here for the Rays vs. Red Sox ALCS in October and was very impressed with the rooms and simplicity. This is a no-frills Mariott property but for families or people on a budget you cannot find a better value. The hotel is very clean, and the staff were excellent and helpful. For the money you cannot beat this location. Rooms were kept clean, area is quiet and the guest rooms are good sized with sofa bed and large double bed in each room. I highly recommend this location.

I have just returned from 2-week stay at the Towneplace Suites, Clearwater. The hotel room rate was really affordable and I have never experienced such incredible service before. It was a simple hotel with not much frills; but the hospitality of the staffs wow.

Breakfast however was a disappointment with little variety ranging from assorted breads, cereals and; hot and cold beverages.

I paid $55 per night for a room with a small kitchenette and most cooking utensils provided.

Overall I would say this is probably a value-for-money hotel with great services thrown in altogether.

We booked 3 suites for a total of 5 days from my son's wedding. The suites worked out well because we had teenagers who wanted their own room, plus a pull out couch which were all comfortable. In addition, we were on a budget so it was nice to find a full clean kitchen. Not far from the hotel was a grocery store so we were able to pack the kitchen with food for our stay. Upon arrival, one room did have a minor leak from the A/C unit, but the staff was very accomodating and quickly switched us to another room. Breakfast was just right and though the breakfast area is small, (there were 9 of us) we managed to eat in shifts, some sat while some stood. Again the staff was very helpful and made sure that there was plenty of food for everyone. They went out of there way. There was some confusion over when the rooms were to be cleaned; we did have to call down to get fresh towels, but again, it may have been because we did not have the sign on the door. I was very cautious because I had read that there was a prison nearby by and that in one direction from the hotel there was unpleasant surroundings, but we did not experience any problems with people lingering. There were other families there and travelers who were all respectful. Overall, our stay was a good value for the money and I would recommend this hotel again.

We needed a two bedroom suite in the Largo area. Having stayed at a wonderful Towneplace Suites in Knoxville, TN I didn't do too much searching once learning there was a Towneplace Suites in the area we needed to be. Upon check-in I knew this property was definitely unlike the location in Knoxville. The primary difference was the age of the property. It was much older and the age showed. The kitchen in our suite was just gross. The floor was sticky thus forcing me to wear shoes for the rest of our stay. When the garbage disposal was accidentally turned on, a disgusting smell emerged. The utensil basked in the dishwasher was dirty and had gross things stuck inside the compartments. Breakfast was only from 6 -9 am so better get up and get going or you'll miss it....like we did. Overall this property met our needs in terms of a two bedroom suite but other than that I was very disappointed.

Well for starters booking on the website was stupid because they only gave you the choice of a one bed suite, or a studio suite with breakfast so we gambled with a one bed suite hoping that when we get there they would upgrade us and we could just add breakfast to the bill but when we got there the room was tiny bearing in mind it was a 1 bedroom plus a sofabed. So we went back and asked for a bigger room and after waiting for a little while we got it. When you arrive they are really welcoming and the staff are really friendly. They give you a batch of freshly made cookies to take with you. The reception is a seperate building from the suites and breakfast is held there. Breakfast was hectic!! There were masses of people queuing up in such a small little cramped room. Everyone races to the bar and grabs all the food they can get and as there is only like two tables for all of the guests to have breakfast, everyone takes their food in disposable plates and takes it to their rooms.
The swimming pool was terrible. It was dirty and the size of a hotub. It was situated right in the middle of the carpark with a fence around it. I don't remember any problems with the room itself, so overall the hotel was OKAY. =]

This room was a great price, which should be expected as we visited during off-peak season (December 2007). Breakfast was served hot on Monday through Friday. The breakfast included hot scrambled eggs, hot sausages, etc. as well as the usual toast, cereal, muffins, yogurt, cottage cheese juice, and coffee. Breakfast on the weekend was a continental breakfast consisting of toast, cereal, juice, coffee, muffins, yougurt, granola bars, etc. Although the breakfast was very good, there was a limited seating area. Breakfast to go was available where you could pick up a styrofoam container containing the hot breakfast so you were able to just pick up the container and go on your merry way.

Location was very nice. I did not see any people "hanging out" as was previously stated in another review. The staff was very friendly. There was an internet access in the lobby as well as free cookies and free apples 24/7 to snack on.

One disappointment was the number of dogs that were staying at the hotel. My grandson was startled by a dog that was exiting the elevator as he was getting on.

We had a Queen bed with a pull-out sofa. My grandson is still small, so it suited us just fine. The kitchen area was very nice as we decided a few nights to grab deli meat to cut down on the eating expense. We did not use the stove or oven, although both were available. There is a microwave also.

Although the hotel rooms are serviced just twice a week (for a one week stay), the rooms are refreshed everyday. Clean towels are brought in as well as the amenities of soap, shampoo, lotion, etc. All the dishes we left in the sink were put in the dish washer and washed by the room attendant every day. The trash was also emptied every day. Beds were made every day. It was exactly as regular room service, with the exception of having clean sheets on the bed on a daily basis. But, that is the norm these days for most hotels.

The hotel was quiet. I am one who hears every single pin drop and my husband was very happy to have me not complain about any noise. You could not hear other peoples showers, toilets, etc like you do in some of the cheaper hotels.

I was extremely satisfied with the hotel. We even had the occasion to meet Santa having breakfast one day in the breakfast area. He gave my grandson a very special Santa coin which he has treasured ever since. This man had a real Santa beard and was the identical image of Santa. He made my grandson's visit very special. If Santa reads this....THANK YOU!

  • Liked — Quiet rooms, no external noise
  • Disliked — Pets were allowed to stay at hotel

We had a reservation at this hotel June 15th thru June 17th. We checked in about 9:30pm on Friday June 15th and we headed over to a fast food restaurant for a quick bite after a delayed flight to Tampa. We entered the hotel building around 10:00pm and we noticed a lot of undesirable people hanging aroung the parking lot, the pool area and in the hall ways. As soon as we opened the door to enter the building the whole place smelled like urine. As we proceeded to our the room the urine smell did not get any better. There were cigarette burns in the bathroom and the room and bed were extremely SMALL. This was not a queen size bed. We were only in the room about 2 minutes and we could tell by the noise and smell that we were NOT going to stay here. My husband looked in the local phonebook and we booked a room a few doors down at an even better price than Towenplace and it was much much nicer. I went down to check out and complain and was told we could check out with no "penalties or money due". No "were sorry" or anything. DO YOURSELF A HUGH FAVOR AND AVOID THIS HOTEL !!!!
