My family stayed here for about a week recently. This is by far one of the most poorly run places I have been to.

We had hoped to use the pool and hot tub often. The pool is much smaller than it looks in photographs. The pool tempature was fine, but the hot tub never worked properly. The water in the hot tub was colder than the pool! When we asked the front desk person about it, we were told it was broken, but never offered information about if it was going to be fixed ( and never was during the time we were there) Also there is a sign near the entrance of the pool requesting that hotel guests please use the pool towels, but during the entire time we were there we never saw more than 2-3 towels in the rack and often it was empty.

While there we requested to use the laundry facilities, but were told not to bother, as the dryers were not working, but yet it seemed they were not going to bother to have them repaired.

The morning breakfast was okay at best. No variety at all during the week long stay. We often has to go to the front desk to ask for refills for the waffle mix, juices, syrup, ect.

Parking was inconvient. The front parking area was small and was filled by 5-6pm every evening. We often parked in the back, which required us to go through the pool area and into the hotel.

The housekeeping left something to be desired. We had to leave our towels in the hallway to be picked up because they were never removed from our room. We asked to have the floors vacumed daily, but it was never done. Trash was never removed either, so we had leave that out in the hallway too.

If in Clearwater, go elsewhere!

I stayed at the Sleep Inn for a week in March 2007. My first impression when I walked in was slight disappointment. I realized I wasn't paying for a lot of luxury but I have stayed in Sleep Inn's that were nicer. My check in was efficient and I was on to my room. When I arrived on third floor, I was discouraged to smell smoke when all the rooms down the hall including mine were "no smoking". My room was stuffy which made the smell of smoke worse. This persisted all week. The hotel is right by the airport and there was a lot of noise from planes taking off and landing--especially by the pool. Not so relaxing. I didn't have a car as I was getting a ride to my meetings with another person. I struggled to find dinner each night as the only place to eat was Cracker Barrel (within walking distance). Final impression: Ok for a night's stay, but when I return to Clearwater again in September for another week I won't be staying at the Sleep Inn.

The outside of the Sleep Inn is very nice as well as the common areas. However, I have stayed at newer Sleep Inns and they are wonderful -- this one needs to update their rooms. The breakfast is basic (waffles, cereal, pastries, bagels, etc.). Also, the hotel backs up to the airport and can be noisey at night. Not bad for a $65/night room.

I had to book a last minute trip to Clearwater the first week of March. Due to it being spring break my choices were limited. This was a business trip so all I needed was a $100 per night room.

THE GOOD: Easy to find, my room was clean and quiet.

THE BAD: Horrible internet service - the wi-fi and even direct LAN access were slow and always cut out. Breakwast was weak for this class of hotel. Room service only took my towels by 3pm. Finally, I had to rush home for a family emergency after the first night of a two night stay - I was charged for the second night because this hotel had a 24 hour cancellation policy. The majority of business class hotels I stay in have same day cancellation policies.

The Holiday Inn Express by 62nd Street is a much better choice.

My brother and I stayed here Feb 8-12 and we were pleasantly surprised with our accomodations. Motel was well-kept, friendly and in a great location for our needs. Our room was N/S and spotless with attention to detail each day. The continental breakfast was excellent and ready at 6AM . We would definitely stay here again. Oh yes...a billing error occurred and was corrected with great speed and competance.

I've stayed at other Sleep Inns which are much nicer but this one needs upkeep and repairs. The room A/C was turned off as we entered the room so it was stuffy - not a good first impression. Our room showerhead was broken and the toilet seat was in desperate need of replacement. But, the worst part was that the air conditioner did not work well at all! The lack of fresh air made it unpleasant; even the elevator was piping hot too! When we brought it to the attention of was the front desk they said "oh yes, the sun is so strong here in FL the a/c has a hard time keeping up." And he did say that with a straight face!
