Description: Remember when Matt Dillon was eavesdropping on Cameron Diaz in the movie "There's Something About Mary"? They were at Red Fish Grill. And what a location! Whether dining outside under the Palms at the edge of Biscayne Bay or in the historic coral stone dining room, this restaurant is like nowhere else. It's a slice of Florida that disappeared long ago in most parts of Miami. But it's a lot more than atmosphere that brings in the locals and notables. The menu is dedicated to fresh local seafood, cooked with a gourmet twist, sometimes Caribbean... sometimes Asian. Best bets: Fennel Seared Yellowfin Tuna on Crispy Wonton, Crab Cakes with Tropical Melon Slaw, Red Snapper with Shaved Red Onion Fennel Salad, Herb Crusted Sea Bass with White Bean Ragout, homemade Key Lime Pie and Caramel Flan with Toasted Coconut. And a wine list that's reasonable and varied. Please visit our website for further details.

“Small Gem Restaurant”
Reviewed 15 July 2014 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

The day of our reservations it was raining so we had to sit inside. I had never sat inside before because part of the experience to going to RFG is to enjoy the view. However, it was very nice ambience inside, and the service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and offered some wine suggestions to go with our meals. The food was very good but the menu selection was very limited and this is why they only get a 4 instead of a 5. I would like to see more choices on the menu. Overall, RFG never dissapoints and it's a great place to take out of towners too and that is exactly what we did on this trip. They too enjoyed it very much.

“Glad We Found It”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

The Red Fish Grill is somewhat off the beaten track, being at the end of the road through Matheson Park in South Miami. But it is worth the effort to find. We have been there twice and have enjoyed excellent seafood and equally excellent service. Tonight we enjoyed the Ceviche of the Day, a tuna ceviche with a little kick, and the Calamari which is always delicious. For the main course, we all tasted the Sea Bass, the Mahi Mahi, and the hit of the evening, the Ahi Tuna on forbidden rice. (Yes, forbidden rice - try it!!)
Even though it was quite hot outside, we still asked for an outside table and were not disappointed. Being able to dine right on the ocean with a beautiful beach right beside the patio is a treat. And, as noted in another review, the price was very good for a restaurant of this standard.

“Romantic setting, not outrageous prices”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 via mobile

My wife and I thought we'd try a date night here while we were in Miami and we both loved it.

We were graciously seated despite arriving late and even given our choice of table.

The mahi mahi and crab cake was ok but the salmon was the best I've ever had. Solid drink menu but the thing that stood out was the phenomenal key lime pie

“GORGEOUS view!”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

If you're looking for a cozy, hidden gem.. Red Fish Grill is the place. No other restaurant will bring you on the shore of a beautiful South Florida beach.

The staff and servers are extremely accommodating, professional and friendly.

I have been to this restaurant five times and it has always been a magical and romantic experience.

“Go to Lido if you want an excellent meal with great service on the water”
Reviewed 20 May 2014

Red Fish Grill will no longer be my go-to restaurant for out of town guests. The atmosphere, normally so nice, was ruined the last time I was there, when I was humiliated because there was a problem with processing the charge for the meal. While the next day one manager said that they were having problems with charges because of a new computer, and that they would make things right, yet another manager denied that they were at fault, and was very combative with me.

No place is beautiful enough to compensate for ugly behavior. Want to enjoy a meal on the water? Go to Lido at the Standard Hotel on the Venetian Causeway. Amazing service. Amazing food. A perfect Miami experience.
