It’s the little things that detract from an otherwise typical experience. It looks like an old property that recently converted to a Hampton Inn but the clerk said it’s always been one, but is just 16 years old. In the substantive areas, like the lobby area, the breakfast offerings (made to order waffles, etc.), and the front desk service, this is pretty typical of Hampton Inns. My room was was in a quiet location as I requested, and had standard features. But by way of objective criticism, a few things were below standard. In the room, the bathroom and tub were small, and there were some minor areas where the wallpaper was separating. The elevator is dilapidated and slow despite the relatively new wood paneling. The flat panel televisions have HD feeds, but are new so there’s no channel guide available in the room. And in the morning, there were no newspapers available at 8:00 AM when I checked out (clerk said they normally came between 6-7 AM). All in all, you’ll find this to be a good hotel overall, but perhaps not quite on a par with other Hampton Inns you may have visited. Note: I’m a Hilton Honors Silver member, so I stay in Hilton brand hotels (usually Hampton Inns) when I travel for business.
