No wonder this the no 1 in the area. Friendly staff throughout the hotel, nice spacious room suite with great breakfast and evening social options. We stayed for a couple of nights and then came back again for another night before travelling over to Clearwater. Very pleased to have chosen this hotel and read lots of other positive reviews about the Hyatt House. I had stayed in the Hyatt house brand before in Boston and Los Angeles so I knew what to expect. What more do you want than having a central location and easy access to the motorway. Made it very easy for us to visit Sawgrass Mills, experience an airboat ride, dinner at Fort Lauderdale beach and have fun at the Hard Rock Casino seeing Lady Antebellum. Will stay longer next time thanks for a nice time.

The room was as advertised. Although for some reason I was put into a room that was specially fitted for disabled people, in so much as it was close to the elevator, had extra hand rails in the bathroom, ad the shower had been specially fitted for seated showering. I am not disabled.
The room was a good size. 4 sections. A living space with couch and TV and game console, a fabulous kitchenette area with very large stainless fridge and kitchen table, bed room, and a large bathroom.
The cleanliness of the kitchen area was excellent, however the living area and bathroom were lacking a little. I would have said that the large refrigerator was almost new.
There are a few fast food places nearby, but the best deal is the "Chipotle" chain place within walking distance of the hotel. - actually right at the end of the driveway.
Lobby was clean. Free breakfast was above average on the cereal and juices, but the hot food was "industrial" and nothing special, although the selection did change daily over 5 days.
The hotel mini shop is just that - mini. Candy and things that are bad for you, but with a selection of re-heatable items for the room's microwave. (No milk for coffee)
On the whole, friendly staff, clean and basic.

My husband and I booked this hotel prior to a cruise. We've stayed in the area quite a few times prior to cruising and can't believe we missed this gem. We arrived late afternoon after being on the Southwest cattle call all day. We were pleasantly surprised with the happy hour choices and opted out of dinner at the local restaurants after indulging in the happy hour. There are many restaurants within walking distance though. Breakfast was generous as well and our room was spacious and clean. We'll be choosing Hyatt House for our next pre/post cruise stay. Also, the staff were very helpful and the airport and cruise shuttles were very efficient.

I stayed there 3 days which was good. It is not an extraordinary hotel, but it is well located to go to restaurant and do little shopping. Friendly staff. Breakfast was ok (could do better).
CONS: The ELEVATOR (2 only), not enough body cleanse (shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion "none").

We only had a few hours at the hotel. We arrived late evening because our flight was late and we then had an early flight out the following day. The room was very clean and neat. The facilities appeared to be great but since we were only there such a short time, we were unable to properly utilize what they had to offer. If we have an opportunity in the future, we intend to book into this hotel again. They offer a free shuttle to and from the airport, which is good but, my only concern about that is that they only run the shuttle every hour on the half hour. That is not enough for most travelers needs.

Since I only asked for a 2 1/2 star hotel on a discount hotel site and only paid $72 plus tax for the night, I had fairly low expectations on what this place would look like. I was more than surprised to see that it was a wonderful hotel. First, the airport transportation came within 15 minutes of my call to them. The desk staff was warm and welcoming (Genesis and Andre). An item I had shipped to them in advance was in storage waiting for me. The luggage not needed in my room was put in storage for morning.

The biggest surprise was the room! It was a King Suite with a full kitchen including a residential-sized refrigerator. The living room had a desk besides a very large l-shaped sofa and a large flat-screen TV that rotated from the living room to the bedroom. The bedroom had a very comfy king-sided bed. The bathroom was large and included a glass-enclosed shower and a closet. Everything appeared brand new including the carpet. I felt like I could live there comfortably for a long time instead of just one night.

We walked across the driveway to its sister hotel for dinner and was pleased with the meal, the size of the portions and the cost.

The free breakfast in the morning was just fair but very edible. It included hot and cold cereal, and breads such as bagels, English muffins and other sandwich style breads to toast. There were plenty of (fake) scrambled eggs and microwaved sausages. There was defrosted frozen fruit but fresh bananas. Of course, there were juices, milk, yogurt and fresh coffee. The helper at the breakfast buffet was very nice and attentive to our needs (Gloria).

Based on our experience, we would definitely stay here next time we fly into Fort Lauderdale.

Room Tip: Room 617 was great in every way!

We stayed here before our cruise. We used the free airport shuttle service and it went very well. We had a pleasant overnight stay.
Due to having brunch with local relatives, we missed the 3 shuttle trips to the cruise port and were planning to take a taxi, but when our taxi never arrived, we found out that for the same $20 the shuttle van driver was willing to take us to the cruise terminal.
