I have stayed at the sleep in many time and each time i was happy with the standard and service provided, Clean and Comfortable with great staff.... wow what a shock this visit, room are not clean at all (very dusty and dirty, just move the bed) the older quality furniture is being replaced with cheap china imported stuff and now makes it the sort of motel you rent by the hour!

One staff member who has been there for years remains, he was on nights when we arrived and warm and friendly as always... the Day reception staff was useless, young and rude with no idea what he was doing, unless it was with his mobile phone!

Sadly i now have to find a new Fort Lauderdale Hotel as this will be the last visit to the Sleep Inn.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel as rooms all dirty and smelly

The location of this hotel is excellent. You have everything you can need just a few steps away. The hotel ooks very nice and the beds are comfortable. The furniture is a little outdated, but ok. Maybe the housekeeping could do a better job, but overall, the suites are nice and cozy, with sofas and a little table with chairs. The suites even have microwave and fridge, and that for me is great. They offer free breakfast. The food is the basic: muffins, made yourself waffles, eggs, oatmeal, bread, danish, sausages, etc, but everything is fresh and hot. For us, this was a good experience. If you're used to 4 stars hotel, this one is not for you, but if you're looking for a clean, nice and affordable hotel with the basic services, you won't be disappointed.

We choose this hotel because of it's location of being close to Port Everglades cruise terminal. We only stayed 1 night. Our room was OK, not the cleanest. The bedspread had a coffee ring stain on it and the bathroom sink had trails of coffee in it where someone had poured coffee and didn't wash it out. The lampshades were dusty and the back of them looked like they hadn't been touched in weeks. The pillows were awful. Very flat. Management wasn't the friendliest either but not rude. The hot breakfast in the morning consisted of waffles you make yourself, oatmeal in a crockpot, sausage and warm hard boiled eggs. They also had cereal, bagels and some pastries along with some fruit. There isn't a place to eat in the hotel but right across the street are 3 restaurants, a Mexican restaurant (which we ate at and it was very good), a Chinese restaurant and an Italian restaurant. There is also a grocery store and a Walgreens right across the street. This hotel was one of the "cheaper" hotels in the area at over $200 a room. (not cheap in my book but your paying for location). Its fine if you just want a stopover waiting to get on the cruise ship.

Would I stay at the Sleep Inn in Dania again? Yes. Would it be my first choice for a hotel in the area? No. We arrived into Fort Lauderdale airport at 11pm and it took almost 40 minutes and 2 calls for the shuttle to arrive to pick us up. By the time we got the shuttle, several other families were arrived and needed it as well. Half of the other family had to wait for the shuttle to return again after midnight. I give the driver of the shuttle a thumbs up for picking up the rest of the other family after the midnight cut-off time, but if the shuttle had arrived quicker in the first hand, all passengers could have been delivered to the hotel prior to midnight.

The shuttle dropped off some other passengers at another hotel first (Econolodge, I think). I mistakenly thought this was our hotel and thought the pictures of the Sleep Inn must have been misleading. The hotel looked like a dump in a seedy area of town. I was happy to find out that this was not what I had booked and we proceeded to the Sleep Inn after a few minutes dropping other shuttle passengers.

Check-in at the Sleep Inn was quick and efficient. Not the friendliest front-desk staff, but he did his job. The room was adequate. Nothing special, but nothing to complain about either. It was quite clean and in decent shape. Beds were decent as well. We had a BRIGHT light from the parking lot right outside out window, that made it a bit hard to sleep, but we were so tired, I managed to fall asleep after about 15 minutes regardless of the light.

Breakfast was good. A decent selection of hot and cold items including our favourite...make your own waffle station. It is a bit tight for seating when all the cruisers are there at the same time.

The location of the Sleep Inn was great for pre-cruising with a Publix and Walgreens within a 1-2 minute walk. Looking at the hotel in the morning, it was in a nice safe area of the city and looked attractive.

The biggest issue we had, which we already knew was going to happen, was the free shuttle to the cruise terminal. They do not let you pre-book seats on the shuttle. They run every 15 minutes. The earliest shuttle available was 1:30 pm. Since we did not arrive at the hotel til midnight, all the earlier ones were full. I wish you could pre-book shuttles when reserving since I paid for the room in full 9 months prior to our arrival. After talking to the front-desk clerk a bit, he offered us a 9 am shuttle. Boarding the ship does not occur til 11 am, so 9 am was a bit too early, but we took the offer anyways since we like being first on-board the ship. The driver that morning was friendly and helpful.

The front desk clerk wasn't very friendly. We had requested a crib when we made our reservation for our toddler. The clerk told us "you don't want what we have." Well, we had to use it since we didn't have enough beds. It was rickety and it didn't even have a mattress in it.
As for the room, there were cobwebs in the corners and it didn't seem very clean in the bathroom. The toilet clogged when our toddler used it (another room also requested a plunger while we were checking in, must be a common problem), the shower/tub took a long time to drain.
The shuttle pick up from the airport was great, quick and friendly driver. The shuttles to the port were booked by the time we checked in so we ended up paying for a taxi even though it was supposed to be included.

We stayed at this hotel prior to our cruise in February 2013. Fortunately, we booked our stay before the hotel instituted a charge, (quite reasonably priced I think), for transfer to the cruise port. Next door is a Walgreen pharmacy, and in the strip mall across the street are three restaurants and a grocery store. Since we flew to South Florida and did not have a vehicle, having stores and restaurants close to the hotel is very important. The hotel is clean and modern, although the room we had might be considered a little on the smallish side. O.K. for a short stay, but I would want something larger for a lengthy vacation. Breakfast was basic, but adequate. The only negative to report was the "frosty" demeanor of the man at the front desk on arrival.

I selected this hotel based on positive Trip Advisor ratings, the lowest price by far for a hgh rated hotel in the area, and proximity to the beach.

The good: Spacious rooms, 5 minute drive to the beach, plenty of parking, adjacent to a drug store and strip mall across the road with grocery store and dine-in and take-out restaurants, easy 10 minute drive to FLL airport, nice breakfast that included the usual pre-cooked eggs and sausage patties and make-your-own waffles, nice area, shuttle service (did not use), quiet rooms.

The bad: Pay attention to the check-in sheet you sign, otherwise they will charge you $1.50 a day for a safe, yet there they post multiple warnings that they are not responsible if the safe if broken into. Make sure you challenge the charge at check-in if you don't plan to use the safe.

The ugly: When I got off the elevator the first time, the hallway smelled like skunk. The smell did not penetrate into my room. When I left a half hour later, I told the clerk. When I returned 2 hours later, the smell was reduced substantially and they had blowers (purifiers?) running in the hall. I then left for 6 hours and returned around midnight and they had removed the blowers and the smell was back to its original obnoxious strength. Again, the room did not smell so I went to bed. By morning, the smell was beginning to seep into the room. Talked to a different clerk and he acted like this had just happened, that there was not a smell problem yesterday. Second problem is that the bedspread had many large dark stains so I took it off and threw it into a corner on the floor. The rest of the bedding and room appeared to be clean. I mentioned the bad smell and dirty bedspread to the clerk at check-out. Said he was sorry but did not offer any compensation.

It's doubtful I'd stay there again.
