I had a wonderful stay there with my grandson. There were lots of things for small children to do. A very nice, relaxing stay. My grandson was especially fond of the lazy river, the poolside movie, and the fire pit where most nights people gathered to make S mores.

I trawled all hotels in Orlando, from apartment suites to Disney/Universal resort hotels to high end hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton and ended up booking the Omni because it had multi-bedroom apartments and on site facilities such as buffet breakfast, fun pool, spa and lazy river. It turned out to be perfect. It's well located about 20 minutes south/west down the I4 from Universal and 1 hour from Sanford. Ours was a 2 bedroom apartment (but effectively 3 bedrooms because 'the den' has a double sofa bed with all bedding provided) with a double double room which shared a bathroom with the den, a well appointed kitchen with fab ice dispensing fridge / freezer as well as microwave, dishwasher, range oven and coffee machine, a large dining table, lounge area, balcony and a master bedroom with walk in shower, twin sinks and corner spa bath. The apartments are serviced daily, all rooms have tvs and air con and morning drinks, hot or cold, are delivered FOC at whatever time requested the night before. Wi-fi is $4.95 for gaming standard, free for browsing / email standard. The balcony looked out over the pool for the use of the apartments and further to the resorts where the fireworks displays of Disney & Universal could be seen each evening in the distance. The hotel is a short walk away through manicured gardens and lawns and is where all the other facilities can be enjoyed such as the fun pool with fountains and a water shoot, the lovely lazy river and various restaurants. We liked Trevi's for steaks and salads. We also used David's sports bar and the Broadway deli. All food was good quality and nicely presented but a bit pricey in places. Trevi's is where we had breakfast every day which was included in our room rate. The buffet was far superior to most buffets with an omelette station and grill area where fresh pancakes and waffles were prepared. Then there was bacon, sausage, smoked salmon, cold meats, cheese, pickles, melons, berries, cereals, breads, the list is endless.
Strangely, August is the low season as it does not seem to have hit the radar of family summer holidays, certainly not for the Europeans. The complex has 2 x 18 hole Greg Norman designed golf courses but has so much more to offer with kids activities and every facility you'd expect from a family resort. There is a formal pool as well as the fun pool for those who want it a bit quieter, both have private cabanas to rent for the day and plenty of free loungers. There is poolside service for drinks and food or Croc's poolside bar and grill to take out or sit in. The Broadway deli is great for boxed salads, sandwiches, cookies and ice cream. What a great place, it had it all including peace away from the mania of the bigger resorts and hotels around Disney, International Drive and Universal. Once on the I4 which is a few hundred meters away from the Omni, the Orlando and Tampa attractions are just a straight drive away. There is a $16 a day parking charge and $20 a day resort fee but that is the norm and should be factored into the nightly charge.

Room Tip: There is the main hotel or the apartments. We were in an apartment looking over the apartment's pool which was lovely, quiet and gave distant views of the fireworks which go off every night in the big Orlando attractions.

We enjoyed our stay and found the service and food excellent. However, we felt that very prompt updating and renovation for pool slide (especially the stairs and landing) as well as the lazy river area is needed for a hotel of Omni's reputation. Compared to other family friendly resorts, those areas need attention and quickly!

Lovely hotel with several restaurants to choose from. Amazing spa, something for everyone in the family. The lazy river is spectacular. As Florida residents, there's not much to do in August because of the heat, this vacation was perfect!

Omni is a great, reasonably priced place for a little getaway. The staff is great and very accommodating! Get to the pool early if you want a seat. All in all a great weekend celebrating my sisters birthday! Food is excellent at all of the restaurants. This is my go to place when I want a local getaway!
