“Excellent alternative to the chaos of Disney”
Reviewed 9 October 2010

First the location: The Omni Championsgate is located several miles south of the Disney World properties, so a rental car is a must. That being said, it took us no longer to get to the various parks than when we had stayed at properties on International drive. The difference is that the Omni is easily accessible to 4 with zero traffic. This review is based on staying 6 nights in the 2 bedroom condos adjacent to the hotel. I booked the condo via Expedia and got a great rate that included the resort fee (there was no parking fee for condo guests). Inside the condo is easily the nicest we have rented anywhere in Orlando. Plasma TV, granite counters throughout, washer-dryer, crown moldings; just a great unit. The grounds are beautiful and as other reviewers have stated the pools are fantastic. We ate at Davids sports bar one night, but the cost of food was insane so we never went back. There is a Chili's within a mile of the resort, as well as Subway, McDonalds, Publix and Walgreens.
The problem with the Omni is that they have an identity crisis. They are a resort that hosts large corporate events that also caters to families. They likely operate similar to the Ritz-Carlton model where corporate clients keep the lights on, and leisure travelers are the profit center. To that end, the nickel and diming for parking, resort fees, food, etc is a bit silly; especially the parking (the property couldn't be more secluded so a gate guard is hardly necessary). Corporate clients don't care, they just expense it. Families on vacation will easily get pissed off at all of the fees. Rather than squeezing the clients that are on property, the Omni should focus on bringing more families in by reducing or eliminating junk fees. We would have easily eaten there at least 3 nights, but the food was just too overpriced, even overpriced by Disney standards. That being said, if you have a rental car, I would recommend the Omni based on our experience with the condos....

No internet connection in the presentation rooms provided - not wireless, cable, card, or cell phone.
You're not allowed to use a hotel rolling cart, so that you can move your presentation materials readily from your vehicle.
My personal room had no cups for coffee or tea.
The pool facilities are nice, and the personal room was comfortable, quiet, and clean.
Internet service was provided in my personal room.

Thank you for your feedback. Internet access is available throughout the public areas and within the guest rooms of the resort. Internet access in the meeting space has to be procured by the group hosting the meeting in order for attendees to have access inside the meeting and banquet space. We hope we have the opportunity to serve you again as a group attendee or for leisure. Best regards!

After paying $14 to park in the self-parking lot, the groundskeepers decided to wash the front half of my car with some sort of white sludge that baked into the paint. Whatever is in their irrigation system leaves behind a white milky substance that dries hard and eats paint. I took the car to the car wash to try to get this substance removed, and now I have thousands of small rings in the paint where they couldn't get this stuff off. Have attempted two e-mail contacts with Omni/Orlando, but have received no reply as yet, but I haven't given up hope. Hopefully they step up and make this right...meanwhile, stay away from the front row of parking spaces in the self-parking lot, even if they are the only shaded spaces in the lot!
I don't know about the recommendation part of this...for a business meeting, this facility was little more than any other hotel/motel with expensive food, over-priced rooms and lots of "hidden" fees. Perhaps I would feel otherwise if I were there on a recreational visit, but then it would probably be cost prohibited.

I came here for a conference. We were supposed to stay here, but tried to book too late. I saw some of the rooms, and they were beautiful. I also brought my bathing suit to take advantage of the lazy river and beautiful pool after the conference was done. It was absolutely gorgeous.
The only thing I'd worry about is that some of the conference sessions were in actual hotel rooms, so people were walking through the corridors. Also, I could hear someone's dogs in their room from many rooms away, so I bet noise might be a problem there.

When you're on the property, this is a great hotel. Beautiful public areas and spacious, comfortable rooms. This is a relatively new resort, and everything is fresh, clean, and extremely up to date. We had a beautiful view of the expansive pool area and one of the golf courses. You definitely want a rental car though, because other than one small strip mall with a Publix and a McDonalds, there is nothing within a reasonable walking distance (especially in the summer). The Disney parks are relatively close by, as are the many restaurant and entertainment options in Celebration and Kissimmee. International Drive and Universal Studios were futher away and we only ventured that far once. Without a car, you'll enjoy the resort, but your options will be limited.

Thank you for choosing our resort. We are glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay. Having transportation is definitely a plus. In addition to providing transportation to all four Walt Disney World theme parks (inlcluded in the resort fee), Hertz Car Rental is on-site for guests who may want to rent a car for a portion of their stay. We hope will stay with us again soon.

We spent 4 days at Omni in August. Before I booked it, I checked tripadvisor and saw headlines like: awesome, best vacation ever .. Gee, I don't know where those people went before Omni. When talking about Omni you have to separate facilities from the hotel itself.
The facilities are very good, swimming pools was clean, lazy river was fun and the 9 hole-3 par golf course was very affordable ($15 for adults, $7 for the kids) and suited for family.
But the hotel itself was average at best, the only thing that resembled 4.5* establishment was the $5 bottle of water in the mini-bar.
Small room, uncomfortable beds and very old TV with picture so fuzzy we could not watch anything.
Don't get me wrong, I am not 'unhappy' and I may even go back there next year (mostly because of kids) but when you see 4.5* you should expect higher standard.

This is the best hotel we ever stayed at. Right outside of Disney, 20 minutes to drive to any of the parks if you have a rental car. Everything from the rooms to the landscape has been well kept. The hotel still looks brand new even though they have been around for 6 years. All the staff is very friendly and outgoing. The lazy river is everyone's dream of relaxation! The hotel restaurant's have great food, service is outstanding. The concierge people are great too! From now on we will only stay here!
