We thought Bahama Bay was a great place, and would not hesitate to return.

The swimming pools were heated, even though it was winter and the occupancy rate was lower. The spa pools were (of course) very heated.

You pretty-much must have a car. But that's no problem because there is a LOT of car rental choice in Orlando.

It is a little bit "out in the sticks", but for us that wasn't a problem. You just get in that car I mentioned, and you drive. We didn't have too many problems with traffic, but we weren't there in peak season. The plus side of being out to the west side of Orlando, is that you are a bit closer to Tampa, if you fancy a drive down there to check it out.

The buildings are three floors high, and have no elevators (lifts), so be prepared to use stairs if you are not on the bottom floor. I think the larger units are only on the top floor, so if you have one of these larger units booked, you probably simply have to be able to climb stairs. The bottom floor units have excellent access for wheelchairs or pushchairs, with not even a single step.

The WiFi is free but we found it to be really really bad. In the mornings it seems OK-ish, then seems to slow down progressively during the day (presumably as more people start to use it), until it is totally inoperable by the evening.

There is poor mobile phone (cellphone) coverage. We had four mobiles with us, and only one could find a network, and then only by standing outside.

The buildings appear to be basically timber in construction I think, and therefore the upper floors are wooden (certainly not concrete), so you can hear the folks above you moving around. How much you hear depends how noisy they are. If they run and jump, you ARE gonna hear them.

You can smell some chlorine in the tap water (and some in the pools), but not nearly as much as what I remember in swimming pools from my childhood. So you just buy bottled water for drinking, cooking, baby bottles, etc, and anyway I would rather have a bit of chlorine than bacteria and viruses in my water.

You can stay here by booking with the resort directly, or you can book with an "owner". Many of the units (condos as they are called) are owned by, well, owners. Whichever way you book, make sure you understand whether the cleaning fee and taxes are included in the price you have been quoted. This will avoid any nasty surprises. Obviously if you book with an owner, you will be staying in their unit/condo, and you will not be able to move. If you book with the resort, you might be given any unit/condo, and presumably you could move units if you need to and there is space.

There are a number of supermarkets within a short driving distance.

The air conditioning (and heating) worked fine. The filter on the air con unit could have done with replacing (bit grubby).

We did not find the beds too soft or too squeaky. We did not find the furniture too old or scratched. The TV was a tube and not a flat screen, but seriously, are you in a holiday playground to watch TV?

The small porches (bottom floor) and balconies (upper floors) are fully and permanently screened with bug netting. This is normal in Florida. Just letting you know that you will have the bug-cage between you and your view. We found this to be a plus, as it acts to contain small children.

There was everything we needed in the unit: Oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, full-size fridge-freezer, washing machine, clothes dryer, two bathrooms (one with large shower and one with shower over bathtub).

We didn't want to leave. We would go back in a second.

We stayed 17 nights in one of the 3 bed/2 bath apartments owned by an English family and managed by Bahama Bay. Condo was exactly as described, clean, comfortable, very well equipped and air conditioned. It was spacious and located in one of the buildings near to the Tradewinds restaurant and pool area. 30 mins from Disney was close enough to be convenient and far enough away to give some peace and quiet from the parks. About 45 min drive from Orlando airport, and both Tampa and Cape Canaveral are easy drives (circa 75-90 mins). Complex staff helpful, friendly and efficient. Plenty of restaurants with 10-15 minute drive. Bahama Breeze on Irlo Bronson Highway a particular favourite. We thought it was great and will return. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: 3 bed units are spacious. Blocks 12 thru 16 are just a few minutes walk from the main pool and restaurant area but all have a pool in close proximity

I had the most wonderful stay here at bahama bay, I don't see what all the bad reviews are for. We stayed in a two bedroom condo with two bathrooms a kitchen (fully equiped with glasses, plates etc.) and a dining/living area. The apartment was clean and cool (which is needed in the Florida heat). Both bedrooms were large and the bathrooms both had a shower , bath, sink and plenty of storage places. The complex itself was very family suitable with pools right next to the apartments and were not overcrowded considering we stayed in the summer holidays, staff at reception were friendly and helpful and a small shop was also located I the reception area. I would reccomend this resort for families who wish to visit the theme parks but who want a quiet and spacious space to stay. Would go back tomorrow If I could! Best resort I have stayed in ever!

After reading some of the reviews on here we were a bit wary of what we would find when we actually arrived, but we were actually pleasantly surprised.
We stayed for two weeks in July and upon check in, I'm not sure but I think we were upgraded to a luxury apartment. Beds were comfy, linen was clean, plenty of towels were provided for our stay, both for the pool and for within the apartment. If we wanted to wash them we did in the washing machine within the apartment which came in very useful. Washing tablets weren't provided but we had packed our own anyway.
The kitchen was well equipped and there was enough seating for everyone. The furnishing style was 'cabana', not to everyone's taste but that's only a small factor. The tv's were modern with plenty of channels not that we used them much with a DVD player in the living room. The balcony was screened and very pleasant to sit out in in the evenings.
We used both the main pool and the one closest to our apartment. There isnt much difference, all we're very clean and we would definitely consider returning.

The only downsides are the location. It is out in the back of beyond but still 30 minutes from the parks. What takes up most of this time is the sets of traffic lights before the turn off that split the traffic up.

We had a great time at Bahama Bay. One thing which was nice was that people were going into the pool after the pool hours. The beds were very squeaky and we would like that to be taken care of. The pool was very clean and was fairly large. The Tradewinds bar at the resort did really good chips. We liked how you could carry out food from their bar to your apartment. We had a very good amount of storage space for our clothes and suitcases. The wifi was not the best but could be improved on for future guests. Although we were in a top floor apartment, there was still some noise from the next door apartment until about 2am one morning. Overall, a lovely resort and we will definetly come back here in the future.

Room Tip: We managed to get a top floor flat to avoid having a noisy apartment above us. To do that you need to contact Bahama Bay in about 3 weeks in advance.
