“Lots of issues ”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

Always have stayed with La Quinta & I have to say this was the worst one I have stayed at. So many issues & the only reason for giving 2 stars was the view. Right on the beach & easy walkway to it. Here's the good.
1. The view was great
2. The breakfast woman who tried keeping up with the outed food was very friendly & polite
Problems
1. Booked 4 rooms for family & was using points for my room. The points were used on a different room even when the manager confirmed at checkin it was mine so I was overcharged by $40
2. Pool was very cold because the heater was broken
3. For a newly remodeled lobby, there are no places to sit in the lobby for breakfast with the amount of rooms they have
4. Refrigerator in the room didn't work
5. Wi-fi wasn't working over 1/2 the time.
6. Extremely small & smelly elevator.
7. Air conditioner in the room was set at 69 & it was 77 in the room
8. Lots of bug problems in the room before we even entered it
9. Trash bag of food outside of door left for almost a full day (no idea where it came from)
10. Parking lot is a very tight squeeze, especially for a bigger car. But the worst of the parking is the small lot. Twice I had to park across the street (which the front desk lets you know where you can park) due to the small lot. Walking across the 5 lane busy Oceandrive isn't all it's cracked up to be.

On Daytona Beach there are many choices, but if you prefer to know what to expect, this LaQuinta lives up to it's brand, and has recently (2014) upgraded it's lobby/breakfast area with beautiful décor. Clean, well maintained rooms have better than comfortable beds, great showers, and breakfast food quality is very good. Beautiful pool/deck area. You'll be happier than with the Comfort Inn, Ocean Walk, or Hilton. Just don't stay here when I need a room!

This use to be the place to go...once friendly, welcoming and clean. In less than a year since my last stay (but stayed there 10 yrs in row)... This property has gone downhill fast. Broken bed frame but yet housekeeping made the bed even with half of it on the floor. Soap Scum on tub walls so thick it could be scraped off. Dirty stained curtains and bedskirts. Sticky TV remote & phone. Glass siiding door had handprints & grime from many previous guests. Had to form a line at 3:01PM check in to get key to room, which seemed cheap & humilating. (not wanting guest to have one minute more than they paid for) All the guest were talking about was how horrible check in was handled making everyone wait. If you got there early staff was telling guest before check in time to go get lunch somewhere until check in time. Management condesending to guest. Pool had no working heater. Broken patio tables & broken/missing umbrellas. Pretty lobby but it all ends there. Outside beach patio fountain didn't work at all, no hot outside shower water from beach. Dogs pooping 3 feet from beachfront patio rooms. When you had a problem & called front desk, staff was uncaring. On the upside, maintenance was on the ball and apologized for all of my problems. The older gentlemen from maintenance should be the Manager, he always greeted us and others & was the most professional & congenial. Ocean view & nice beach. Continental breakfast is included & woman working breakfast area was very nice & kept it clean & full. Manager or anyone from staff never had follow up to my any of these issues. It was obvious Management had no follow up on checking guest rooms for cleaniness before checking guests in. All the focus was on the new Lobby. Which means nothing when you have a horrible experience. Just one disapointment after another this year at this location. Staff & Manager needs training with dealing with guest. I would not recommend anyone stay here until there are big changes made and property is back to functioning fully.

Room Tip: Ask to see your room first before chekcing in. Make sure its up to your standards for your own healt...

Horrible Condesending Staff... Pretty Lobby but it STOPS there! Had broken bedframe room but yet they made the bed with half of it broken on the floor. Soap scum on tub walls so thick I had to go buy cleaner and sanitizers and clean myself. Pool heater don't work. Dogs go to bathroom in grass in front of guest room doors. Rooms have odors. TV Remote, phone and curtains so dirty. Bed skirts can't be cleaned often because they had stains clearly visible. Don't expect to get your key one minute before check in because they make you wait in line like a child in a school lunch line. Your key will be handed to you starting one minute after 3pm check in.

1) Everyone says its not there fault or to blame, they don't know better.
2) Cleaning was vacuuming and the floor mopping. Had to complain to get anything. Wife asked for extra coffee packets when we checked in to the cleaning lady, told no problem. She wrote herself a note, then never left ANY until we caught up with them on Friday. Had to chase them and take it from the carts around the property.
3) Rate was $145 per night Friday and Saturday night, yet people coming in off the street paid $119. Elite member means walk all over me. Overcharged Sunday through Wednesday, so manager adjusted the 3 nights points didn't count, so it looks like I didn't pay the rate I did. $80 was removed for the 3 nights.
4) Sheets not changed from Sunday through Thursday, put cards on the bed Friday saying to change the sheets. Policy is change every 3 days. They made the beds Friday, (one of 3 days it was done of our 7 day stay), hid the stains but didn't change the sheets. Had to go to the office and of course we have the attitudes. No wash clothes two days, used towels. On Friday, three people were in the room, so towels were changed twice, no one left wash clothes in two attempts. Come on, they can't be serious.
5) Cigarette butts all over the pool drain. Got excuses that the pool guy comes three days a week. My problem how? Supposedly new rule to do it three times per day by Brian the do everything person. Didn't see any after we complained so that seemed to be taken care of.
6) High Speed Internet reset 3 times in four days because of poor speeds. Speeds of 6-10 kbps, Really, dial up was 64k. 7) Known as guests from hell by day 3 because we expected LaQuinta standards and got the Bates Motel. If I ever saw the tripadvisor reviews before I got there would have cancelled reservation.
7) Guests promised 1st floor for personal reasons, arrived Saturday afternoon and told they couldn't have it. So they left. Laquinta returns members and treated like they didn't matter. People off the street are priority to fill the hotel, not us members who are loyal to LaQuinta.
8) Spoke with the owner and regional director while they were there, they seemed interested, but not my job to fix the place, but willing to give ideas. As owner you should be more involved and talking with guests and get the problems resolved this could be a gold mine for you. Read the reviews, I am not alone.
9) The phone in room 307 had mold on it. Had the lady wipe down on Friday, day 6 of our stay and she still couldn't get it all off. Attention to detail is lacking. Even the light bulbs covered in dust.
10) Cody at the front desk was Excellent!! Breakfast lady and once gentleman, only ones who do the job they are supposed to. Very friendly and outgoing. Promotion????
11) Mega sand in the outside shower, so rinse off then step in sand and track into the hotel. Wanted to say something, but didn't dare with all the prior complaints. Workers came up to me and asked what was so wrong. Indication, not being taken seriously.
12) Asked to do survey by Laquinta, so we did, and asked for a phone call to discuss. We got a email and a phone number to call if we wished. I am not the one losing customers, I am not calling them.
12) Many nice hotels toward Ormond Beach, go there.

Room Tip: Beach front is best, but easy access from any room to the beach and pool area. Don't stay here i...

New remodeled, clean and friendly. Especially for the view and the price. You can tell they get loaded up with young partying folks during spring break (probably b/c of room price) and do very little to control it and spend an excessive amount of time recuperating (room svc, etc) from it. However, if they did do more to control it and minimize it, I PROMISE you that families (the one's that really spend money) would be inclined to comeback or stay longer and they'd save themselves labor $'s, etc. Let the kids stay at a party hotel, there are plenty in Daytona..

Room was out of date, dirty & needed painting, especially the back of the entry door to the room. The outside of hotel was very dirty. The elevator was very dirty on the inside and outside area. If you had a pet the area for the pet to use was awful. There was not enough area & virtually no grass. In my opinion someone needs to inspect this hotel. I don't know if the other rooms were any better, but this is the worst LaQuinta experience I've had & I used to stay at this chain when I was in the work force.
