“Turkey Run Rest Stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2011

Looking for the most convenient location to stay when you want to be close to the Speedway for events? This location is within easy walking distance, exceptionally clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed hot breakfasts every day before venturing out to the car show or beach. Every staff member was more than accomadating to address our needs and any questions. They clearly like their jobs. They even provided Thanksgiving dinner with all the trmmings for those guests without plans for dinner. Rooms are spacious, well stocked, comfortable beds and newer decor. Overall very pleasant experience. The single drawback...a room by the pool, as it can get quite loud in the evenings if other guests are taking advantage og the grill area adjacent to the pool and workout center.
Would definitely stay here again

Room Tip: Stay away from pool facing if you want a more quiet experience

Stayed two nights this past week. Gret bed and well equippped room. PC users note: Wireless internet connection is faster than the wired one. Great for folks visitng for a car race or flying in to airport, as hotel is between those facilities-but very quiet). Great bed!

We stayed here twice, in October and November of 2011. In both instances, the front desk clerk, Bill, was extremely helpful and accommodating . He went out off his way to make sure that we had the room that we wanted and that we were happy. The rooms are nicely appointed, with full sized stainless steel appliances, and the beds that were super comfy. It has a nice pool, but unfortunately it does not get late afternoon sun. The only problem we had was on our second stay. The night staff did not turn down the music in the halls and t the pool at night. The manager failed to live up to the Marriott promise of "satisfaction guarantee " by only offering only 2000 bonus points .for two nights of partial loss of sleep.

My wife and I recently stayed one night at this hotel as a short get away trip from home. We got a good rate, and was our first stay in a Marriot chain in the last four or five years. We always had faith in this chain, and although this stay did not change our opinion, this hotel definitely needed to try harder to keep up with the Marriot image. Upfront, I must be fair to say that the room we had was clean and relatively comfortable, but there were numerous minor inconveniences that negatively impacted my rating for them.

Our booking and reception at the hotel was efficient and pleasant. After entering the first room on the first (ground) floor, I immediately found out there was no signal strength whatsoever on the WiFi. I told my wife not to disturb anything in the room until I checked out the signal at other parts of the hotel. I went to the third and fifth floor and checked signals right outside the elevator and got 100% strength on each floor. I returned to the front desk and request for a change of room to the upper floors, and was very pleasantly accommodated. We got a new room on the fourth floor and had to leave right away due to running late for an obligation. When we returned after dinner at about 8 p.m., I found that the signal in this new room was also 0%. But once I stepped out in the hallway and walk towards the elevator, the signal went up to 75 to 100%. Eventually, I took my WiFi tablet to the lobby area to check e-mail, and found out (unfortunately) that although the signal strength there was good from my tablet to the router, the pipeline going from the router out to the internet was so slow that I had to give up any web surfing out of frustration. This condition was verified by another couple traveling with us whose room was right next to ours. Surprisingly, the speed improved dramatically in the morning, probably due to low usage by other guests in the hotel.

Meanwhile, my wife found out that there was no tissue, no dish towel in the kitchenette, no guest information folder, and a bunch of wet dishes in the dishwasher (condition unknown). She recalled that in the first floor room that we were originally assigned, there was a guest information folder, a box of tissue, two dish towels and the dishes were neatly stacked in the cabinets. When I turned on the TV and tried to look for CNN, the single sheet of paper for channel guide was so confusing and misleading that I could not locate the station. I called the front desk and the first response was “I don’t really know because we just had a new cable provider”. She called back five minutes later and told me the number for HLN (Headline News) instead. When I insisted on CNN, she hesitantly said “10, but it did not work on our TV downstairs”. In fact, CNN on “10” worked fine in our room TV.

As for the suite, it had a green sofa and a mismatched red arm chair (did not seem to be purposely put there by designed). The two TV’s, one in the sitting area and one in the bedroom, were LG’s and were very clear. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were wimpy. We were too embarrassed to ask for firmer pillows by bed time because we had already asked for too many other missing stuff. The shower handle would not shut water off completely unless it was overly tightened, and by then, the whole shower assembly became loose. The counter sink stopper would not hold water. The bottom line was: the quality control in our room was poor. The cleaning personnel should have checked and reported discrepancies to the maintenance crew to get them fixed instead of letting them go to frustrating those “one night” guests.

Finally, the included breakfast was a “me too” affair – nothing worthy of special notations.

Room Tip: Most rooms had parking lot view. There were some rooms that were facing the inside courtyard where...

Enjoyed my time here. Great value and a nice place to stay. Would likely be deafening if staying during racing season, but luckily this wasn't an issue. Living room furniture could be more comfortable.

When we arrived at out room we found it dirty..The counters were sticky, the headboard was dirty, the couch was full of crumbs, the mirror had wet smudges, and there were mysterious spots on the bed sheets..I have stayed at this hotel before and plan to give it another try, but i was not happy at all. The breakfast was ok which includes: make your own waffles, pastries, scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausages, coffee, juices, and yogurts. There are great, spacious two bedroom suites. The staff was excellent, when we called about the room they sent someone up immediately and then the room was clean. There is a full kitchen, that is lacking in kitchen ware. Over all, i would try it again, hoping it will go back to being fantastic! There is a pool (6ft deep) and a basketball court, bbq grill with sitting area and fitness center. Its just minutes from the beach, and right next door to the international speedway. Even though the hotel is right in front of the airport, we didn't hear the planes on the second floor..I can't speak for anything above that.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with more than 1 couple (2 couples, a couple with kids) get a 2 bedroom suite!
