No other place for me to stay at, when in Daytona Beach.
Great staff
Exceptionally clean rooms
Great prices
Heated outdoor pool.
And roomy indoor pool
Great restaurant inside hotel too.
But the Best is the Oceanfront View from every room.
Its my home away from home!!

We went back to the Tropical Winds again this year for a month at the end of October - November. The hotel hasn't changed at all. It is still a clean well organised and managed hotel, with super friendly staff where nothing is too much trouble. The fishing was again very good after a slow start.

Room Tip: The top floor is good for a view of the Dolphins in the morning and evening.

October 2013 was the sixth year in a row that we have stayed at Tropical Winds for a month or more each time........that alone should say how much we love this place! The rooms are nice and clean, great view (ask for ocean front), the indoor and outdoor pools are both heated, and the addition of wall safes since last year is a much appreciated feature. Thanks to Chris, Ms. Gwen, Tanya, Brandy, Hannah, and the rest of the staff, who go out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. We'll see you all again next fall.

My wife and I stayed here again on the 30th November 2013 for 4 nights. There last time that we stayed, we chose an Ocean Front room, but this time chose a side room, as the weather was somewhat inclement, and anyway we had a side view of the Ocean. We asked for a high floor (for a better view) and were given room 811, which is on the top floor. The room has two key operated door for access, the first door it shares with room 810 (One of two large suites, which we glimpsed into when being cleaned and empty - looked really good), and then another door into each individual room. I suppose that this arrangement allows room 811 to be added to the suite if required for a large party. Room 811 is delightfully light and airy having a dual aspect. The room was very clean and tidy, save for a water stain on the ceiling caused by a leaking roof (Fixed but not re-painted). The furniture was in good condition and of a light wood, which with the Peachy coloured walls and carpet helped make the room look really homely. When we arrived the large sofa was against the rear wall, but we moved it to in front of the bed, where with the coffee table made a great TV (a modern 40 inch ) viewing seat. Really very much more like a apartment than Hotel room. Very comfortable indeed.
There is a very small balcony, just sufficient for the two plastic chairs provided, but with the snag that two air-conditioner outlets one from 810, and one from 811 have their outlets blowing onto this small space. In hot weather this would be an unusable balcony!
Looking up from the ground, we noticed that room 811, and it's opposite number on the other side of the building, have smaller balconies than any other, and that with the air-con from the adjacent rooms don't exhaust on the balcony of these side facing rooms. So side rooms on floor 7 are better than those on floor 8.
Looking around at night it's obvious that nearby hotels were not as full as "Tropical", so they have a formula and price structure that works well. The staff, to a person, are friendly and make you feel very welcome, and that's worth a lot when you stay in as many Hotels as we do.
Downsides? Well the public areas are a little tired, as are the two lifts and hallways, but once you close your room door, well it's worth the rate.
Would we stay here again? Well we have and will.

Room Tip: Always go for a high floor Ocean front room if you can afford it.

I found this place online and was a little worried being sight unseen. Pleasantly surprised! The hotel is clean, staff is SUPER nice and accommodating. Room was clean, hotel was a little dated, but it still was perfect. The balcony is the best! What more can you ask to go to sleep listening to the waves and wake up to them. Didn't get to use the pool (not enough time), but it looked clean and well maintained. Will definitely book here every time we are in Daytona! Thank you for the wonderful service!

Room Tip: Higher floors have the best view and very quiet!

Lost count of how often we stay here when we fly from England.
It does not change much on each visit though noticed safes in the rooms this time. Very good.

The staff as usual were very helpful and catered for all our needs.

The location is so, so good we will be back again.
Well done Tropical Winds

Room Tip: Most rooms are good but the view is better higher up.

We have fallen in love with the hotel. This was the first time ever that we walked into our hotel room and actually wanted to hang out and relax!! The bathroom and linens were clean. The staff was very friendly. The cafe was a good price. The pool area was well kept and mere steps to the Ocean. Perfect beach to take a midnight stroll or a brisk morning walk while watching the sun rise.
