We stayed at Grand Seas resort last week (April 8-14). The only way you could write a negative review of this place is if you are nitpicking at every little thing! This place is great. To all the reviews saying the floor is dirty... well ANY place located RIGHT ON the beach is going to have sand on the floors! no matter how well you clean there is no avoiding it! Its part of staying on the ocean! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in every way... going above and beyond to help us! One guy even used his own internet to find a location for us on his break... not many people would do that where we are from. The area in general is very laid back, the people are interesting, fun, sooo friendly and non judgemental! We LOVE daytona beach/ormond beach! This resort is not right "downtown" near all the activities, boardwalk, bars, etc, but its right down the street, we even walked it a couple times which is a beautiful walk along the beach! The buses run frequently up and down atlantic so we didnt even rent a car and we got everywhere we wanted to go and more! We actually liked the fact that this resort is a little further north because the beaches arent even close to as crowded its more peaceful and relaxing! No there arent balconies on the beach side, but we got a room that had a balcony type walk in the hallway.. which was almost as good... and the view from our room is amazing!! The entire wall is a window! There was plenty of space and included everything we needed for a week stay. I wouldnt say its a 5 star resort but its pretty darn nice, and only a snob would complain about this resort! We werent bothered at all about a timeshare, and when we were asked once they left us alone aterwards. If you dont use the internet they dont charge you the resort fee. We didnt see one single bug in our room just amazing and beautiful beaches. The pools are clean and beautiful, it would be such a great place for a family with the waterslides and playground and mini golf. We really liked the hot tubs outside which are great on a chilly night. The bar is nicely located and friendly. The food at gilligans is GREAT and not too expensive, and is nicely decorated and modern. Their specials are awesome. Overall we had a GREAT vacation here and if given the opportunity, would definately stay again. A couple recommendations in ormond beach.. Peppers mexican grill about a mile north on atlantic and also Artistic Soul tattoos a couple miles north in ormond beach (we got tattoos while we were there). They are amazing artists and the friendliest, cleanest, most accomodating people ever! We finally found them after checking out the rediculous 'flash' tattoo places in daytona beach. And thank god we did! If we ever return to florida we will be making a trip out there to see them no matter how far the drive! Overall we definately recommend Grand Seas resort and the daytona/orm ond beach area overall!! We didnt want to come home!

Room Tip: Ask for first floor oceanside if you can... the doorwall opens up onto the pool deck and oceanside!

We just returned from a weeks stay at Grand Seas. Although I was extremely worried about what I was going to find when I arrived, it was not as bad as I thought. It was clean except for the floors. I do not understand why they don't at least clean prior to their guests arrival...it seems like they have given up on the floors and just do not bother. I have stayed at plenty of beach resorts where the sand was an issue but have never arrived on the first day to find the floors dirty.
The location was great - hated the fact that I did not have a balcony..for this main reason I will never stay at this place again...cannot live without a balcony. The pools were nice - however not heated. The staff were ok...didn't seem like they cared a whole lot. The only people that showed a lot of interest were the folks that were trying to sell you some sort of time share alternative...(beware - do not get sucked in).
There were not many kids activities except for Monday - a hula hooping contest. Monday also was the only day they had a dj with some sort of activity on the pool deck. There was live music for a short period a couple of days..but not anything to brag about. The put put was old and needing repairs. It was not a bad place - but it is not a 5 star for sure..and I do not think it is up to interval standards.

My husband & I just spent a week at this resort. Upon arrival, we were disapointed to find out that they do not have balconies. The rooms are oceanfront with a floor to ceiling window that opens, which atleast helps, but a balcony would have been wonderful. The furniture is old, the resort was clean except for the floor. Our feet were always dirty! The floor is tile, you walk around barefoot through the whole resort so you can't expect not to track in dirt & sand. We did sweep, but it really didn't help. The murphy bed was very comfortable. Luckily we didn't need to use the sleep sofa because it was awful. The resort is located across the street from a shopping area that includes a Publix, Bealls (+outlet), Dollar Tree, Walgreens & a couple small restaurants. This was very handy as you can walk to shop. Ocean Walk area is about 2miles down the road.
When you are on the beach, be leary of people in golf carts. They are trying to sell you on a new vacation plan. We went and it was awful! They were not going to take NO for an answer.

We recently spent a week at the Grand Seas resort in Daytona and found the place in need of renovation. Peeling, chipped paint, stained tile grout, rusting appliances, rusting around elevator doors, furniture in poor shape, even stained plastic toilet seats. The location is great on the beach with shopping right across the street but just no where near the premier resort advertised. Ours was a timeshare trade through Interval International and we were very disappointed that Interval even continues to list this as an eqivalent exchange with our home resort. Just not up to the standards we've come to expect in an interval exchange. Also resented that they had no chairs or boogie boards to take onto the beach. We could rent chairs for $35 a day or a boogie board for $15. I went across the street and bought a boogie board for $12. The staff was good but the place needs to be renovated and they should have a few chairs and toys to lend.

Room Tip: Studios use Murphy beds that are very low. We switched to a one bedroom.

The pictures of the rooms on their website are definitely not what they look like! However, the room was OK. The bed pulled down from the wall and behind it was rusty and dirty but it was really comfortable. The floors were sandy but we had the door open and with the breeze it should be expected. I know in other reviews people complained about this but the cleaning staff was always available if needed. We had all the necessities (refrig, stove/oven, microwave, pots, dishes, etc) and a little patio of our own. We were on the ground floor and it was noisey early in the morning but we were right in front of the pool. The pools were huge and the tiki bar was super cool. They had music one night with a DJ and had an 80s party. It would be a perfect place for small children with a nice playground and kiddie pool. The staff was very friendly, the reception area was very nice and the daily specials at the restaurant were great. The specials were available at the tiki bar too. We would definitely stay there again because of the price and take our grand children with us.

Room Tip: Ground floor has a patio, other floors do not. Pools are noisey early.

We arrived at the resort to find almost a 30 minute wait at check in. This did not bother us too much as we knew it was spring break. However, once we got checked in and went up to our room our key did not work. We had to go back down and the lady at the front desk gave us new keys. We went back up to the room and they key still did not work. There were two maintenance workers that met us at the door and said the key was not going to work and they had told the front desk this. Maintenance used their master key and opened the room to a room packed to the ceiling with extra furniture, filing cabinets, etc. We went back down to the front desk and the lady who checked us in could not even be bothered to come out of the back office to apologize. In fact, there was no apology from any of the staff. We finally received keys that worked to room that was not clean. We were supposed to have a room with two queen beds and ended up a murphy bed and a pull out couch. We didn't complain. We kept the room. We only stayed one night in this hotel and during the one night we stayed we found an empty box of condoms, a half empty bottle of vodka in the freezer, woman's toiletry trash on the floor in the bathroom, and a ball cap in the murphy bed. In the bathroom there was hair all over the floor. We had to put towels on the floor and scoot around so we did not touch the floor. There would have been absolutely no way we would have stayed for more than one night in this hotel. It is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in.

This is the most hospitable clean resort my husband and l have ever stayed at. Most folks usually complain because they are either A. Too broke to afford to stay in such luxury, or B. Just rude.
Have you nothing good to say? Or shall you just check in to the Holiday Inn where your annoyance will be recognized. And possibly comped,
By the way ,,, reagarding bugs ... you should have checked your own luggage before punishing such a wonderful property with your flith.

Room Tip: Be nice... you will be respected.
