DeLeon Springs State Park is located in central Florida and should not be missed. Comprised of 600 acres of gorgeous old Florida, there are too many things to do to be written here. Admission to the park is $6 which is nominal for the experience which lies ahead and the value. Gorgeous canopies of very old live oaks welcome you when parking. The foliage is manicured and the park is constantly maintained. Truly beautiful.
There is a large spring pool (constant 72 degrees) fjor swimming, snorkeling and even scuba training. A boat tour is available for a reasonable fee and is highly recommended for a tour of old Florida where all sorts of wildlife may be seen. Canoes and kayaks are available for rental. There is also a small museum on site. Picnic tables, pavillions for larger groups are scattered about the grounds. Hiking trails are maintained and are a fun and easy walk. Also, not to be missed, is the Old Spanish Sugar Mill Restaurant (see review).
In summary, DeLeon Springs State Park is not to be missed. If one is tired of the frantic theme park experienc, this laid back park is for you. One can easily spend a full day here and return to see something new. Do not miss this unique experience.
