“Hotel DeFuniak - Hidden Oasis”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

Hotel DeFuniak was a wonderful surprise. Discovered on the internet when searching for a midway point from Houston to St. Augustine. A fantastic boutique hotel located in the Florida panhandle - quaint shops and town. We were greeted & checked in by Cheala. She later served us coffee in the library and made arrangements for dinner at Bogey's next door. The rooms had huge ceilings, antique furniture and the most comfortable bed ever! Lovely linens. The staff was gracious and friendly. We had breakfast in the cafe before we headed down the road. Wish we had more days to spend checking out the town. If in the area - make a point of staying in Hotel DeFuniak - service at the highest level!

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel has a wonderful atmosphere and I have never stayed anywhere with a staff more eager to please than the staff and owners here.

Walking the downtown is like stepping back in time and it's one of the most unique towns around.

Bogeys next door has great food and the sax player was super.

The Little Big Store next door is fascinating in its own right and the young man working there knew his local history which was refreshing. Its easy to imagine being a local and hanging out in the store.

There's not a lot of night life in the town but that's great because sometimes a change of scenery, a good meal and friendly faces is all you need. The morning breakfast at
the hotel is excellent.

Hotel DeFuniak is an incredibly lovely B&B tucked away in this quiet, small Florida town. The historic building was modernized just enough to provide guests with modern comforts while maintaining a charming feel from a previous era. We immediately noticed that great efforts that had been made to provide a charming elegance along with the care and thought that was put into every imaginable detail. The attached restaurant, Bogey's, has a quaint personality with its own unique flair and atmosphere. The food was exceptionally delicious and on Saturday nights there is a saxophone player to set the stage for a romantic evening. The hotel and restaurant staff were incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs and for the experience and value, we could not be happier having stayed here. Wonderful job Tom, Pam and to all of your staff - Cheers!

I stayed here 3 nights on business. The hotel was just lovely. And the owners and staff were gracious and attentive. The restaurant next door is a little pricey but lively. I recommend the soft shell crab. You won't get here by accident but it's well worth the trip!

My husband and I stayed here an evening and can't say enough nice things about it. First of all, it is a truly lovely place and the staff's customer service skills couldn't be any better!!! We ate at Bogey's Saturday night, enjoyed the Sax player and the meal and service were terrific!!! We were here for a wedding and didn't know of any reason that we would have to stay down there again but we are gonna make a reason, because it is that good!!!!

We gave my daughter a bridal shower at the hotel on June 30, 2013. It was more than we could have hoped for. The Hotel and staff were fabulous. It was an Alice in Wonderland themed tea and the management went out of their way to add their own special touches to the room to make it special. The menu was a tea luncheon served on 3 tiered trays with Mimosas and wine. The food was presented exquisitely and tasted the same. The staff on duty that day should be given 10 stars for they made all the guests feel at home. The pictures on the website don't give the room justice. It was absolutely the right choice for our special day. I would highly recommend this venue and hope to use it in the future for another special shower.

My husband and I stayed her for the first night of our honeymoon. It was wonderfully quaint and had an interesting history. The rooms were just what you would imagine for a B&B! The rooms are somewhat small but very tidy and pretty. Breakfast was spectacular and homemade. The service was also fun and very nice. There is a restaurant attached that had the best grouper we have ever had (and we grew up on the beach) and there was live music. It was a wonderful start to our honeymoon :)
