What a perrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect place for a family reunion....My family including five brothers & sisters, nieces, nephews, grand kids, uncles, aunts, husbands, wives, and a few adopted family members all came together for a week-end to enjoy the many activities offered.....Hontoon Resort is just the perfect place for a family to have a great week-end..Pontoon boat excursions, fishing, Hontoon state park next door with all kinds of activities..If you have a big family this is the place to stay...Compliments to April and her staff and all the other employees that were just so friendly and helpful...Not one disparaging word from any of my family members and that's saying something....There is always one in a crowd that you can't please but not at Hontoon! Everyone commented about how much they enjoyed Hontoon and want to do it again next year....

Room Tip: The executive suite is the best!!! Spacious, luxurious, and comfortable...

Hontoon Island Resort and Marina is the Florida I remember as a child. Off the beatan path, Peaceful, tranquil, and full of nature. Not your fancy multi resort of today, but a resort of years gone by. Great service, friendly staff and clean, modern rooms. twenty minutes into Deland, with many restaurants, and shops. Come, sit and watch the sun set over ancient oaks covered in moss, come watch the birds.
Take the pontoon boat ride for a real sight of old Florida.

Room Tip: I like the view from the second floor balcony

Stayed there and took a boat ride around the island. Great birds and other wildlife.
The rooms were clean and the property well maintained but it is a stretch to call this place a resort. The rooms lack some if the basics such as a coffee maker or hair dryer. There is no restaurant, nearest one is miles away. However if you want an out of the way place to experience old time Florida this is the place to come. Just don't expect the type of amenities you will find at most typical Florida resorts. For many travelers that may not be a problem in return for the natural surroundings.

There is not one thing negative to say about Hontoon Landing and Marina. We found Hontoon Landing on the internet. What a wonderful surprise. We stayed in the Captain's Suite. This suite has a private lanai/deck that overlooks the river. Every morning while having coffee we saw an amazing array of birds, sometimes an alligator and the beauty of Hontoon island. The entire staff of Hontoon Landing was courteous and extremely helpful. The grounds are immaculently groomed. We enjoyed the pool and the sitting areas of the gardens. We booked a pontoon boat tour of the St. John's river and the Dead River with Captain Gary. This man is so knowledgeable and excited about what he does. This is a must have to do. We spent eleven nights here and the service and cleaniness of the suite was excellent.

Room Tip: The Capain's suite is beautifully appointed. The decor is very pleasing and updated. Two very large picture windows to enjoy the activities of the river And a sliding glass door leads to the lanai/deck. The bathroom has a large two headed shower that is completely updated. The bedroom is large with a kingsize bed and more than adequate storage. We used the kitchen every morning and cooked several dinners and had enough dishes and cooking utensils.

we found out about Hontoon Landing on the internet while searching for something different than we had been using on the west coast of Florida; staff is very friendly and helpful; Hontoon is on a bend of the St. Johns river south of Lake George, outside of Deland, Fla. There is somewhat of a drive off of S.R. 44 west of Deland, several turnoffs are required, but actually quite simple. Hontoon is located on a part of the St. Johns that has a restricted speed area ( slow and idle) so you don't have to worry about getting run over by pleasure boats!! Rental boats are available quite reasonably, and they furnish you with a map of the area so you won't get lost. We rented a Sea Arc for two days and had a blast!!! WE will be back!!!
