Description: The restaurant in an old home, built in 1910. It has recently been restored to accentuate it's original beauty and craftsmanship. It is warm and homey, just like home. The beautiful stained glass windows are the homes original windows. The grounds are landscaped with lush green and colorful plants.

We stopped in at the Cook's Buffet one very rainy afternoon in June for an early dinner/late lunch. They were having a special...$14.95 for the buffet plus dessert. The buffet was huge, with fresh fruits, vegetables, pasta salads, puddings, etc. beautifully displayed. I would have easily made my meal on just the salad bar, but the meal included our choice of meat...meatloaf, fish, roast beef, and ham, as well as vegetables. The portions were huge. For dessert I goofed... the strawberry/banana cake was extra pretty, but it didn't hold a candle to the chocolate cake! I was just lucky Doug gave me a taste of his...OMG....the best chocolate cake I've ever eaten, definitely not a box or bakery cake! The dark, cocoa rich cake was to die for! Since I couldn't eat all of my entree or my cake, it became two nice meatloaf sandwiches and a half of the 6 layer strawberry/banana cake for each for supper. The total for this huge meal was $36.93 with a 20% tip. A truly lovely meal in a very pretty old building.

Rainy Sunday in Daytona Beach. Tring to decide where to eat. Outside beach or river decks are out. Husband says lets drive over to Deland to cooks. OMG....I had pork and sauerkraut. The pork piece was 2" thick and out of this world tasty. Hubby had the fish which he said was great. We did the clipboard special which included the meat, all the salad and veges you could eat, dessert and beverage. We took leftover meat and dessert home for later. Portions are large taste exceptional and price....well we ate someplace else last night and spent 4 dollars less but didnt get dessert and no leftovers. Well worth the ride to deland.

Looks appealing from street. Once inside, old smell, old seating. Food, safe. Buffet style, that a CARVER will give you a portioned size of meat of your choosing. Would not choose this "cafe, bakery. Sorry, just mediocre.

Yes, our restaurant is appealing from the street, but the interior is just as charming. This soon to be 103 year old home was totally renovated 2 years ago. All new flooring, all old wall coverings removed, ceilings refinished and completely repainted. All new custom made tables, chairs, booths and lighting fixtures now complete the look. I ask you how a building with all this work can smell old? The seating is updated, but keeping with the charm of the era.
We hold true to the original meaning of a " buffet", a style of service. The salads and vegetables are all you can enjoy, but you are served a very generous portion of top quality meat.
We are proud of our restaurant and for the history behind it. We will continue to serve our patrons in a proper way, in an updated, fresh environment.

We were pleasantly surprised. Just moved my daughters family up there and were looking for a good meal for the six of us. Defiantly will be going back every visit. The deserts are an eye full for the boys.

We've lived in DeLand for 4 yrs now and have always thought we should stop in here, and finally did this evening! We are so happy we did! The buffet is expansive, fresh, and very tasty (especially the mac n cheese..homemade goodness)! We got the dinner special including one (very generous) portion of meat, perfect sweet tea and dessert. Ohhh the dessert...we had pumpkin cake and carrot cake and had to take most of it home since we were so stuffed! All that for $14.99? Complete bargain! Service was very friendly and the nicest touch was one of the owners coming over, introducing herself, telling us she heard it was our first time and she hoped it wouldn't be our last! She knew so many of the patrons personally and treated all like family. Would highly recommend and it will definitely not be our last visit!
