My sister in law and I wanted to have dinner in Delray before attending the Arts Garage performance last evening. We lucked into Max's Harvest in a driving rainstorm, happy to pay the $5 to valet park and hope for a table with no reservation. Tables were spoken for, but we were offered seats at the bar, where dinner can also be served.
We were pleased from the moment we stepped inside this restaurant. Katie and Jenette waited on us at the bar, and visited with us even as they kept pace with the needs of the waiters to provide drinks for this efficient and comfortable place.
Everything tasted and looked so fresh, from sangria loaded with fruit and topped off with champagne, to the $35 prix fixe offering of the night, short ribs with broccolini and sweet potato puree. For dessert, the flan was wonderful and presented beautifully on a divided rectangular plate with whipped cream and a lovely sauce.
We were pleased to note that the Arts Garage was just a block down the street- another element of our charmed evening in Delray, 20 miles north of our second homes in LBTS. With the exception of the brief summer thunderstorm, we could not have designed a better way to spend a Saturday in Florida. My sister in law commented that we had enjoyed possibly our best restaurant meal ever in FL.
Max's serves brunch. We will look forward to trying that someday soon !
