“dont waste your money”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

OK first lest talk about the boat, small boat to many people a board , some people don't get any fish , most of the trip they was tangle , the fishing pole was terrible , the guy who should help people , was just talk to people but don't help anybody, i miss my first fishing area because my pole don't work , look like they just worry about the money, OK now about Florida laws, if they don't change the fishing rules , this business will go away , no chance , only mingo snapper , no grouper , no amber jack , more than one person was really upset and ask for the money back 80 dollars for a 8 hrs trip, they need to reduce the price because the service and the fishing is terrible , but the fuel price is to high so inevitable they will be out of business , in other works , i was there on 6/26/14, and next time i will try the destin princess never the swoop again

“Save your money and frustration level”
Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

If you want a true deep sea fishing experience save your money and get a few friends together and charter a boat. If you are wanting fresh fish with a boating experience save money and time and book a dolphin cruise and order fresh fish from either a local seafood restaurant or Red Lobster. You wont be nearly as frustrated.
However, should you opt for the fishing anyway, expect to catch 5-8 fish (2-4 keepers) unless you are a scantily clad young lady, or a friend of the crew, then the sea is your bounty.
Good luck guys.

“Best deep sea charter in Destin!”
Reviewed 19 June 2014 via mobile

My girlfriend and I have fished on the Swoop boats five years in a row on vacation and every year it's our favorite day of the vacation... We have tried private charters and other boats but nothing compares to the service, value, and fishing success that you will find on the Swoop. Ed (in the picture), Ethan and Jeremy continue to impress us and make our trips enjoyable. They are kind, helpful and a lot of fun to fish with. We catch more fish on this boat every time than we can eat in a month. Truly the best fishing vessels in all of Destin. Your crazy if you try anything else. They are great with kids and females too so don't hesitate to bring then along, you won't regret it!

“Great trip”
Reviewed 18 June 2014

The boat was almost full (only a few open fishing spots) so it was a little crowded. The boat was scheduled to depart at 7am but there were a few delays so we were about 45 minutes late. They offered to extend the trip on the back end, but frankly it was so hot that by the end, everyone was ready to go back. It was a good day of fishing - the process is very organized and the guys are very helpful. My 8 year old son caught about 6 or 7 fish, and had to throw 2 back due to season. All in all, a very good trip and no complaints.

They mentioned tipping and offered a suggestion of 20%. Frankly, they totally earned it and then some.

My suggestions: They tell you to bring drinks and snacks - you definately should do that. I would also suggest bringing wet wipes and hand sanitizer. If you are going to eat snacks after baiting your hook and having fish guts flung on you from all around, you are probably going to feel better about having a way to wash up, other than rinsing your hands in the hose.

“Trip cancelled by captain under guise of rough seas”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

We were underway for a very short time when we were all moved to the back of the boat because of spray from waves. Didn't seem to matter, we were completely soaked anyway. We continued through fairly rough water and at one point hit a pretty good wave. The crew had to make their way to the engine room, then bring some additional crew down, then back to the wheelhouse. We continued on for a total of an hour when the crew headed back down to the engine room. Apparently the engine room had taken on water with the crew speculating a hose knocked loose vs coming through exhaust etc. We continued on but shortly after the crew headed back to speak with the captain, we received the announcement that we would be heading back to the dock for a full refund because the seas were too rough and it wouldn't be pleasant fishing for anyone. The crew made no secret that the boat had mechanical problems and were visibly upset they wouldn't be earning any tips.
While we had plenty of time to observe the boat, the knives were thrown in a 5 gallon bucket with cigarette ashes flying right in, a cutting board was floating in a tank that had paint chips peeling and severe rust with what appeared to be green water.
I'm relieved that this trip was cancelled after inspection but very disappointed that this first time will also be the last for all of 7 of us. Absolutely turned me off
