“loved the anglers resort”
Reviewed 22 January 2008

I stayed at the anglers resort on saturday January 19th with my 4 year old daughter and 7 year old son. We originally planned to go camping and boating but due to very bad weather we decided to stay in a hotel. We stayed in a room with 2 beds, a kitchen complete with oven, microwave, fridge, sink and plenty of dishes, pots, pans and coffee maker. I think we paid 54 dollars including tax. Every part of the room was extremely clean, the beds were new and fresh paint thoughout. Shortly after we arived the sun went down and lightning knocked out the power in half of the town of Dunellen including the hotel. The hotel owner saw me trying to keep the kids entertained in the dark and went out and bought a wind-up flashlight for my son and his wife showed up twice with fresh candles to light the room until the power came back on around 8pm. The next day the temperature was in the 30's and they let us use a room to warm up in and eat lunch after boating on the river. We could not have asked for more gracious hosts. The tackle shop had plenty of supplies, boat rentals and a nice dock with fuel. I found out that the owners bought the property just a few months ago and have done a lot of work to make an old hotel modern and comfortable. we will be going back soon.

I just want to say that since the new owners have taken over, they have really spiffed up the place! The rooms are actually "CLEAN" now and they have replaced a lot of the furnishings. It is definitely an enjoyable place to visit!!

I would just like to say that now that the resort is under new ownership, they have really spiffed up the place. It is now time to give Angler's Resort a second chance. The appearance of the rooms are "CLEAN" now and they have replaced a lot of the furnishings. It is now an enjoyable place to visit!!!

Disregard anything negative you might have read or have heard about Anglers!! This hotel recently came under new management and has been completely renovated. There are new linens, carpets, etc. The rooms are very clean, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone in the Dunnellon area. The riverboat rides are another bonus of this resort!

ok.... to borrow and old Betty Davis line... " what a DUMP"! we reserved here because of the boat rentals on property.. however, the boats where in such a state of disrepare it was scary to think of even going out in one.. I understand not having money to do a lot of the repairs this place needs. but it doesn't take money to clean and wipe things down...heck, get the hose out and at least rinse the boats off they looked like something out of a horror movie.. and he wanted several hundered a day!!! My wife and i refused to even send the night. We changed to another hotel not on the water, but only a few blocks away. well kept even for it's age. itg use to be old army baracks when the rail road was built. old... yes... clean and freshly painted yes, two rooms, kitchen, separate liitle living room and all for $68 per night and no train.

  • Liked — it had a nice oak tree
  • Disliked — the building and rooms....oh and the train track running mere ft behind it

The only resort amenity is the coke machine next to the bait store. The rooms are from the 50's. Rusted appliances, filthy windows and screens (perhaps to block the railroad), and old mattresses.
When we left early the management was extremely rude and offensive. Also, very scary folks wandering around at all hours.

  • Liked — Route 41 next to room for easy exit.
  • Disliked — Most everything. Very scary place!

we did not stay in the run down looking motel only came for the 4th of july fire works we rented a pontoon boat what novices. we told them we came out of town to see the fireworks from the river. they told us the boat had no lights but if we bought a spot lite we would be ok. our rental of 24hrs started at 130pm we were told to watch out for rocks on the river we never saw any their no signs to warn anyone but we did feel something several times but you could not see into the murkey water. at sunset we returned to the boat rental dock to get ready for the fireworks. the office was closed but a person came out of a back door and said we could not go out at night with out running lights the spotlite was not enough. we argued that we only used 6 hrs of our rental he said we could use it the next day but we had to go home. he also checked the prop which had some chips on it and said they would keep our 350.00deposit to replace it. so our total 6hr rental came to 750.00 other boaters also hit the rocks did it caust them the same what a scam
