Pictures does not do this house justice ... It has everything you need and then some!
As a Florida girl from the Keys and now living in southeast Florida I wanted to take my boys to show them a different kind of Florida. "Old Florida", peaceful Florida, this house and place at Rainbow river had it all. To start Hal & Sandy ( the owners) were amazing to deal with and responded quickly to any question we had. They asked what we like and left us a little "mommy and daddy juice" as we were welcomed into the home. We unpacked and checked out the fridge to see what items we needed. They have a great pantry stocked with a lot of must haves so look before you buy. Winn-Dixie or Walmart are just a few short miles away. The grill was perfect for our rib-eyes the first night and cooking some Jiffy pop. The kids beelined to the shed to prepare all the toys for our week. Plenty of tubes, noodles, fishing gear, 4 kayaks 1 canoe and plenty of life vests for little ones. Hal has a compressor for rafts but I also brought a island raft to anchor off the dock so a airbed pump worked good for that. Don't forget to hang up the hammock that is in the shed in a perfect shady spot for the morning read.
The first day we played on the toys all around the house and river, we found the otters and the 45 bunnies scattered around the house. After a long day of play it continued teaching the kids poker and dancing the night away with tunes from the juke box!!!
*Day 2 we hit the Headsprings and saw the falls of rainbow river. Not crowded during the week and refreshing and perfect.
*Day 3 tubing down river starting at KP hole we brought the home tubes and rented what we needed. It's a 2 hour float from KP to the house get there at ten stop at the house for burgers and dogs then continue to swappy's just make sure you make a shuttle pick up back to KP hole or have someone come get you. A great day again was had by all.
*Day 4 we saw in the paper that it was scallop season and we have never been so we packed up the cooler and towels and drove a short 20 miles to Crystal river. We saw a Dive Shop " Bird's underwater" we got there kinda late morning and with really no plan after learning you have to go out about 15 miles by boat we asked you want to charter us and he said I can have the boat ready in 15. A sub shop next door packed us some amazing sandwiches we piled on the boat and we were off. Captain Cody and 1st mate and photographer Robbie were so nice and helpful and we collected 7 gallons of scallops for a delicious ceviche last night dinner.
