Imagine your own little cottage, just a few yards from the ocean where you can hear the surf all night long. Simple, older, quiet, and all yours. Check their website, look at their photos. We stayed in cottage #12, not right on the ocean, but back just a bit. Not photo perfect, but what we wanted. If you want swanky, trendy, and sparkling new, go somewhere else. Our cottage was spacious. It was clean -- no evidence of anything resembling bugs and we were looking for them, as it is Florida! A drawer rubbed and left a bit of sawdust, which was NOT bugs! We cooked our breakfast on a newish glass-top stove, then ate it from an older table. Furnishings were a mix of new to older. Comfortable bed, flat screen TV, WiFi. We did not use the AC as it was December. We were gone all day every day to all the convenient attractions in the area. We loved the double slider to the porch which gave a huge opening from the living area to view the sunset on the gulf and let in the night breezes. We really like it here and want to come back to our quiet space, so please, please, do NOT tell anyone about this place!

I won this cottage in a silent auction and my husband and I planned a week of Tarpon fishing with friends. We knew the cottage was not one of the cottages on the beach. The cottage was disappointing in many ways. It was full of roach, termite, and something larger, (rat?) droppings in the kitchen/dining area. We slept with the bathroom light on to keep away the roaches. The bathrooms were clean. the sheets on the bed were clean, but it was clear no one had stayed in this particular cottage for awhile. There's an on-site manger- you would have thought he would have cleaned up before we arrived. I did ask him to change the air filter which was filthy, since the air conditioner was barely adequate. The furniture was old, dirty, and uncomfortable. We ended up cancelling our friends from coming, but stayed 3 nights to fish. Fortunately, the fishing was fabulous. The unfortunate thing is , the house could be great with very little effort.

This is truly "old Florida"! Cottages were built after WWII and are situated right on the top of the water. My family has been coming here since the 1950s and my siblings and I all honeymooned here! The beach is not extensive but to be able to sit on the bluff (the view from the cottages themselves is the same) and not be flanked in by multi-story condos on either side is priceless. Really sweeping views of the Gulf of Mexico. The cottages have wi-fi and are otherwise basic; however, you only need to bring your swimsuit and towel. We come down every Christmas and love it.

The cottages also have a dock facing Lemon Bay on the other side of Manasota Key (across the street) so it is also good for fishers.
