My girlfriend and I, from Denmark, have just completed a 16-days roundtrip in Florida. Prior to our departure from Europe we knew that most of our time in Florida was going to be spent in urban areas and amusement parks. However - we both wanted to experience some wildlife on our journey and therefore we booked a room in The Ivey House in Everglades City for a few days, and we were NOT dissapointet. We took a 4-hour guided kayaking trip through the swamps and mangrove forrests near the Ivey House. Alligators were frequently swinning by within a few yards of our kayaks, and the tour guide, Dee explained all that we wanted to know about the many exotic birds sitting in the trees above us. We can really recommend this kayaking trip to everyone who wants to experience the nature far away from noisy airboats and polluting traffic. Later that day we also realised, that the Florida Black Bear lives in the Everglades, but that's another story. Nikolaj & Mai, Denmark.
