“Unfriendly staff and not very clean”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

The room wasn't very clean. We found hairs in the shower, sheets and floors. There were enough for me to feel slightly grossed out. The lady who checked us in made it seem like we were a huge inconvenience, but there wasn't anyone else waiting to be helped. The only positive is that this is close to the everglades, but we should have just gone back to naples. It is worth the drive to stay in a cleaner and more updated room

I absolutely love The Captain's Table! I have been coming here for the past 5 years and it has been a great experience every time. The rooms are comfortable and immaculately clean, and the staff is always available if you need something. A treasure in Everglades City - visit here and you feel like you are at home and a part of the community. I always have a very peaceful and relaxing time. Can't wait to return!!!

Upgraded older lodge. Our room was clean and spacious. Small window A/C unit was a bit loud but cooled okay. The pool is large and very nice! Plenty of parking for our boat. The facility overall was fine. Nothing fancy. The front desk woman needs to smile more and improve her customer service skills. I would stay there again. There are not very many options in Everglades City.A fishing village where the restaurants close at 9 p.m.

Room Tip: The lower level rooms have a screened in porch. I would have preferred that for additional $20 would...

Everglades city is complimented by this first class accommodation. You will find it at the end of the road, but not at the end of your adventure. Great value, friendly hosts, pool,...etc. Need I say more?

I can only agree to what most of the other travellers wrote: only stay here if you must. The rooms are spacy, but very simple, there is no one at the reception most of the time, wifi only works on the porch and in the reception area, but not in your room, and your room is only tidied up if you are lucky (we were not). Besides, it is not cheap. Unfortunately, it was the only place we could get in Everglades City, and this seems to be what keeps it alive.

We travel the USA a lot and appreciate that the most expensive does not always mean the best place to stay, during this two week holiday this hotel was by far the most expensive we have stayed in. Unfriendly service, no coffee in room, no breakfast and no housekeeping of the room during the 3 nights we were there. The board outside said there was internet but forgot to say that is only if you are within three ft of the reception desk. We appreciate it's not easy to find an motel in Everglade City but our advice would be try, try again or commute from Naples before you stay here

In Everglades City, we stayed at the Captain’s Table Lodge. We were lucky In some respects, because we arrived after dark and the other motels in town claimed to be full. Curiously, most of the “full” places had very few or no cars parked in front.

Although at Captain’s Table Lodge we had a large double room, the price seemed easily twice what one would expect to pay for this sort of accommodations. The architecture seemed out of the 1950’s with furniture seemed rescued from a similar period garage sale. Perhaps seedy chic describes it best. The beds were comfortable, the showers fine, and the kitchens was equipped with minimal necessities. The AC was very loud and the screen porch leaked mosquitos. Internet was very iffy.

No breakfast, but they did have coffee which we welcomed. However, when the pot ran out, we were told it takes a half hour to perk, which was revealed to mean, no more coffee. If you go to Everglades City, consider packing some food. The nearby grocery is expensive and not well appointed.

Based on value for price, mosquitos, general seediness, and noisy AC, we will not stay there again. In fairness, all the motels that we could find in Everglades City seemed to take advantage of a seller’s market by charging outrageous prices for second rate accommodations. Maybe there are reasons to go to Everglades City, but I am not aware of any. We should have kept driving.

Room Tip: Choose another motel
