Amazing history and location. Great food - delicious fresh grouper sandwich - and service; Ashley was charming and hospitable and very welcoming . This establishment has seen patronage by many famous people, over the past 100 years , or so but still welcomes all, today. It has closed for the off-season, now, until later in the year.

Fish finger basket consists of "fresh grouper" and fries for 14.95. The fish fingers looked like the fries. Very thin filets. Never seen fish filets that thin. Must be trying to make the fish go a long way. This would be the size of a 8.99 price. Plus coleslaw in a dressing sized cup. Then my husband had the Fisherman's platter broiled. He got the thinnest piece of "fresh grouper", 4 small scallops and 5 small shrimp. Suppose to get frog legs but those were not on the platter. Again a salad dressing size cup of coleslaw for the price of $18.95. Can of soda 3.00.

Every time I enjoy dining at the R&G Club in Everglades City, I feel lost in a time capsule. It is a happy experience meaning that I had a boat ride to get there. However, there is mainland access by car also.
This dinosaur of a museum archive of hospitality is one to cherish as long as they can hold it together. It seems in the summer a skeleton staff is casually attending to servicing the patrons.
We typically dine on the veranda, which is next to waterview. Good food and the service is unpretentious and simple as your neighbor saying 'what do you want' ? My caesar salad with fried oysters and grilled grouper were very enjoyable, along with a nice glass of chardonnay. The seafood is without a doubt, as fresh as can be !!
We got our check written on back of a post card, and they take no credit cards, just cash! It appears they may not know what a computer is. Another era for sure!
So, there you go....that is simplicity!

Loved all the wood floors bars etc. It was exciting to be where the movie gone fishin was filmed. and talking about it. To hear how many famous people have visited there. They were very friendly about providing us as much information that they could. Nice place to just look around in.
