My experience with the office staff was very unpleasant. I attempted to rent a kayak but was told by a very unfriendly office clerk that they could not accommodate me. I do not understand how someone in the hospitality industry can treat customers so badly. I was very taken aback by the rude disposition of the staff here. Try any of the other concessionaires in the area for boat rentals.

Thank you so much for your comments and feedback. Please accept my most sincere and humble apologies. This is very clearly not the type of service we strive to provide, and certainly not indicative of the standards to which we hold our team members. I would be most appreciative if you could contact me directly, so that I may have the opportunity to remedy the situation, as well as use your experience as a coaching tool for our entire front desk team.

All the Best!

The cliche "Old Florida" seems to be used to describe towns and attractions throughout the state. The Ivey House and Everglades City are the first we have found to fit the description. No golden arches here...not even a Subway...but at least a half dozen funky "fish camp" types of restaurants. The Ivey House is friendly, sparkling clean, well run, beautifully maintained and features a wonderful morning breakfast. Beautifully quiet and relaxing. We should have based our Everglades experience here rather than trying to drive every road in the park. The National Park Service sunset boat ride through the 10,000 Islands was great....much better that the noisy animal frightening air boats. Everything about The Ivey House is A++++.

Room Tip: We were in the newer part of the facility...nice rooms around a central courtyard with an enclosed pool and recommend this (we didn't look at the other side of the facility but from the exterior it also looked quite nice).

The Ivey House is a wonderful place to stay when exploring the Everglades. It's charming, clean and convenient, and the staff is very helpful. We took a guided kayaking tour with John as our leader. He was friendly, fun, and informative - made us feel safe around all those alligators!

The highlight of our 24 hour everglade vacation was kayaking. This trip was conveniently arranged by our hotel Ivey House....best place to stay in the area. Jeff is extremely knowledgeable, kind and did everything possible to accomodate our group of 12 (maximum number). I recommend taking the 7:30 am vs. the 1:00. While kayaking, my husband had left the car lights on all day which ran the battery dead. Thanks to Jeff for restarting our car. This trip is not for one who is afraid of alligators. There are lots of them!

An attractive place in a location for people visiting for a specific purpose. Everglades City is not a general tourism town (nightlife consists of going outside and looking up), but if you are interested in seeing wildlife or going fishing in the Ten Thousand Islands, we can't imagine a better place. The staff are pleasant and helpful, the facilities are as clean as possible and very pleasing to the eye, the provided breakfast is ample, and there is lots of good seafood available in the area for other meals. The limited night life means you might want to watch cable TV, and there your options are more limited than they are at a Hyatt Regency: you get maybe ten channels, and you can't even pay for more! The available guided kayak trips are well-run and worth every cent to those for whom such things hold appeal (obviously for us they do).
